I was watching a game earlier on Twitch and noticed that Dox are not killed by orcas effecively, at all. One torpedo kills only one dox.

Anti air torpedoes are the way to go :p

On topic: not sure about this. I agree dox are quite hard to kill in large numbers while underwater, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing... You're still getting free kills since they can't fight back, and new naval absolutely wrecks dox as soon as they surface, especially narwhals with their new rapid fire.

On the other hand, they can be used as a shield for slammers/ships which is a cheesy move, but it feels like targeting priority would be a better fix than just making dox really weak to torps.

This game doesn't use AOE very effectively at all. The only AOE weapons in this game are the nuke and haley. I would have thought artillary units would do good AOE damage too.

On maps where dox travel between islands it is vital to have good naval torpedos to stop dox from crossing and destroying potential mex on their next land destination.

Adding AoE would fix that, wouldn't it? Aim for the slammer, kill the Dox.
Smart targeting is considered one of the most difficult tasks in AI programming, so don't expect an universal solution.

Yes, this would be a great change.

Other than the pelter, lobber, flak tower, and the artillery tank, I believe the catapult, and possibly a couple of the ships, eh? :p

Aah well if that's true then adding AoE might be the best solution, I know nothing about programming so I expect you're right.

@KillerKiwiJuice I know it's important to be able to stop dox moving between islands, I just think that splash damage torpedoes might totally invalidate dox on naval maps. I might be wrong though, it'd need testing!

Also, sorry for double post, but what? All artillery uses AoE very effectively. Pelters, holkins and shellers have good AoE. So do grenadiers (although they suck for other reasons) and of course the noble boom bot. And the uber cannon. And vanguard. And flak.

Maybe I'm wrong. But the shellers are not very good at blanketing an area with shells. The amount of times I see shellers all targeting the same enemy unit. Not very effective use of AOE weaponry, and I guess when I think of AOE I'm thinking StarCraft seige tank styles.

Imo doxes shouldn`t be able to go into the ocean. They should stick to land much like ants [IMG]

I'd rather they fired faster and did less damage.

I know we did that in Statera, but it feels weird for a torp launcher.
