Aircraft in PA, when landed cannot currently:

-be shot by ground units, except aa capable

    can

-land in craters and create a hard to get rid of spy (exploit)
    -get shot at by fighters

a few of my friends have talked about other problems.

    Favorite: Not landing.

Close second favorite: Landing, and being immune to air-targetting and vunerable to land-firing, and aircraft being in an "off" state (cannot use aircraft weapons on ground)

If aircraft don't land, they'll either have to:
Hover, which would require that they bob up and down slightly, otherwise they'll look bizarre (even Starcraft 1 does this with its aircraft).
Fly in circles, which hopefully won't make them much more expensive than landed aircraft to pathfind for.

It would still be best to simply fix landed aircraft, even if aircraft are set to not land by default. You never know what a mod could use landed aircraft for.

I like the idea of landing your aircraft to protect them from fighters or other AA, if the other player has achieved air superiority, you can ground your air force and hope that you can preserve enough units to potentially take back the air later.

Problem is, right now, grounding it makes no difference. AA can still shoot at landed planes.

Yeah, I would think that eventually, landing them takes them out of the air layer etc.

i really would just rather have them hover, this landing and stuff may seem nice and all but its a pain for micro-managing

If we went with perma-hover, we might have to tweak the units a bit, since that'd essentially give them faster reaction times across the board from not having to take off when ordered to scramble.

IF they hover, switch of the damn main thrusts. Always makes we wanna puke in other RTSs...

Nothing wrong with hovering fluffwise I'd say. A low altitude hover might even look cool.

Well don't they already hover for a bit before landing at the moment anyway?

Also I beliiiieve the thrusters turn off.

I reckon they should land. If they are being incorrectly targeted, then that's the problem that should be fixed - it's never a good idea to change other things to work around a problem ;)

    Also:
That seems like clever use of terrain rather then an exploit, unless there is actually something acting not-normal in regards to targeting/hitting it (in which case there's a bug, squish that :p ).

I like landing planes, just fix the issues with them.

I am for landing and being vulnerable to land and immune to AA. Can not use weapons in this state.
Imo, it adds some depth to air.

i always thought the landing planes was for an eco issue like if u don't have the power to run them they land to save power making them venerable to ground forces which i think should be re added

I don't see the point of having units be able to go into a state where they are not combat ready at a moments notice, without also introducing a arbitrary and pointless mechanic to give them a reason to land at all.

There is no fuel, no ammo and no reason to land.

For me, it introduces an arcadey feel to the game when aircraft hover. Making them land "keeps it real" so to speak.

You can always give a patrol order to keep planes in the sky.
