So the overall balance is this so far:

    EUR16.51
    USD56.77
    GBP18.92

Not really enough to setup a server better than the uber servers/the custom servers that are already available.

I am considering to refund all money and call it quits until there is better support for multithreading server side.
    Any opinions?

Aah, thats too bad. Anything we can do to add more funders? How much do we need a month?

What about saving enough to buy a server? What would the cost be for that?

    Buying a server?
Forget about it, you are facing about the same cost as for a high end gaming PC, minus the money for the GPU, but add in cost for extra RAM and server grade motherboard, plus you would still have to pay a monthly fee for co-location in a real data center, because you just won't get a guaranteed 200Mb/s+ connection at home, not even with Google Fiber. So it's a >$1000 investment upfront, plus a decent monthly fee.

But I would actually suggest something like this (not bought, just rented): http://www.hetzner.de/hosting/produkte_rootserver/ex40ssd
Rootservers located in Germany are actually quite inexpensive and that one comes even with SSDs pre-equiped which can be reconfigured into raid 0 if you like so you don't even have to worry about swapping.
Or if you want to push it, this one:
http://www.hetzner.de/hosting/produkte_rootserver/px90ssd (Beats roughly the EC2 c3.4xlarge in all specs while effectively costing 1/6th)

If you want to go all in: Amazon EC2 c3.8xlarge
Even though you *should* keep in mind that that is part of a multi socket system - and I have no clue how well the threaded parts of PA react to the drawbacks which come with that hardware configuration. And Aazon EC2 instances aren't exactly cheap for what they offer, renting a dedicated server somewhere else usually turns out a lot cheaper as soon as you are using it for more than 4 hours per day.

    - Thank you for organizing!
    - Do a project on http://www.patreon.com/ to ease collecting monthly fees
    - Don't buy a server, rent one (as the guy pointing out the link to hetzner.de suggested). There HAVE to be good providers of rented root servers, also in the US or something.

sorry, I don't check the forums lately because all I see is excessive drama (balance stuff, trolls, haters, etc), so I missed the call here

I think cwarner was about to refund it? So yeah the idea is scrapped. Not enough people to get anything better than a server by uber.

@HotshotDemon it's pretty clear what you should do.

    don't add that repository.

it must be something else entirely you gotta add.

What you need to do at that step is install nodejs for your distribution of linux. Google that.

Received, tyvm. Bit of a shame but maybe the idea can be revisited again at some point.
