ALSO Gaz giants and suns should block your shots entirely.

Gas giants should explode in a ball of fire which vaporizes some of the nearby planets in their orbit

space is not filled with air. you can't "combust" a planet simply because you gave it a "spark", If that where the case we'd have two suns since billions of years ago.

other than that, I just feel Gaz giants are way too ........gigantic for metal planets to be able to take out.

Also with the current OPness of metal planets, I suggest it would provide a deeper mechanic as you could "miss shots" if firing at the wrong time or also allow you to make interesting maps where certain planets are "immune" to metal planets simply because they have the exact same orbit as it, simply half of a cycle ahead and both are orbiting the sun or a gaz giant.

Yeah, if they ever make it so there are multiple coordinates a planet can orbit, I don't think this would really be a thing

Look I'm not saying I'm knowledgable on this but I'm pretty damn sure the core's (wich is directly in contact with the gaz) is hot enough, so if there's anything to combust on Neptune it would have burned decades ago.

I think two simultaneous beams should allow you to destroy a gaz giant. (and five, the sun)

I'm all for the sun blocking shots. Gas giants blocking /soaking shots and dealing nuke-like damage to the area of impact wouldn't hurt either, so that you could theoretically use a metal planet to scorch units off a gas giant. Leaving some roiling storms where the beam hit would also be interesting.

As I mentioned in a different thread about Halleys, allowing room for mistakes means that some really cool stuff can happen.

Ya I agree totally, I think it just adds a fun element and also adds an element of skill to the endgame rather than the the mid game dictating the endgame.

You could explain it that way but for what it's worth it isn't that unlikely for 3 bodies in a system to line up perfectly. For example, Earth, Venus and the Sun were briefly in a straight line in both 2004 and 2012. This is called the Venus Transit. Now, for the purposes of PA that's not useful if one of the bodies is a star, but since our solar system is mostly planar I'm sure there are times when 3 planets are in a line.

I vote for it destroying everything in the way, except for suns.
