Doesn't really surprise after the attempt to find new work for these people failed :/

This is incredibly sad news. A lot of love in that office so this must be hard for those staying as well as those leaving :(

My very best to all of you

That's a bummer. Uber has built quite the talented team.

It is pretty silly that people in the HR forums were completely unaware of this. It seemed pretty obvious to me, if they have a set profit from a game, and have 3 particularly set teams working on content patches for gameplay, then you know they pretty much do not have work to justify a large art staff and such.

This is a shame, I cannot help but blame people that didn't give game development a shot because of political reasons because those bastards get their offline and their ladders despite it. I know I am wrong for doing so, but try and stop me from doing it bro.

Also, did you notice JorgenPT's post in the Ladders PTE build thread, saying "This is what happens when engineers work on UI"? That is the sort of stuff that stems from this. Sometimes, I know best, give me credit bro.

I do salute their attempt to try and expand horizontally to retain everyone. Best of luck to them guys.

Marginally successful game + preemptive mass hiring + movement to a new office + failed new game pitch = this wasn't a surprise.

To be less cynical about the ordeal though, I hope the guys that got off'd find more work. And I hope this doesn't spell the beginning of the end for Uber, that would really suck. Good luck to all those involved and all that.

They can't exactly not hire people and then work on a game pitch, @Tehtrekd

A damn shame, I hope they all find work as quickly as possible. Games development can be volatile industry, and it's a shame to see people put out of work partly-because disgruntled PA community members took to every article and forum demeaning Uber.

Oh no! Not Chelsea! She is an amazing artist. She'll be missed.

This may be a but too optimistic, but both Jables and Chelsea are re-hires (though of course at different periods of Uber's life cycle) , and so I hope in the future she returns!

I chose not to back the human resources kickstarter because planetary annihilation is a poor quality game and is not fun, and I couldnt imagine HR being any better despite the cool trailer. Also, ive become disillusioned with the notion of buying games before they are complete due to PA and a bunch of games on steam. I imagine many others feel same as me.

Losing one's job is a terrible thing; this is not the appropriate place for this. Best wishes to everyone and their families.:(

I think just about every company has their fair share of layoffs like this.

Especially ones that just failed a kickstarter.

If your bar for feeling empathy is death then you may wish to get yourself checked out.

I'm going to be frank and honest with you. Your behavior makes you look like a arse. Empathy is a very human emotion and I empathize with them. I would suggest you work on your soft skills.
