We need more formation options IMO, but there is a big problem with the current rectangle formation units use. Since units are organized in a way that, as you add more units, the rectangle grows proportionally. In the end you can't bring all your firepower to bare cause the units in the rear take time to catch up with the battle in the front that is usually happening at optimal range. Hence, in my opinion, there should be a maximum width to the rectangle in the standard formation units use. I don't think that would be very complicated to implement an it would improve gameplay a lot.

At the moment there is a REALLY inovative mod that's I really love. https://forums.uberent.com/threads/rel-enable-custom-formations.62269/ For exemple if i'm micro managing 10 DOX and i'm versus 3 tank, I will make a kind of 1/2 circle line with the mod so my dox will stick on it. Then give them a move order. If I done it well they will all fire at the same time ! Verry efficiency if well managed. But this is micro.. You can actually select 100 tank and put them on a SINGLE line if you want. The shorter the line you do by right clicking, the more compact the formation will be. I really love this mod.
