Upcoming update - Ranked Gameplay

    That you can tell which player is better by looking at their rank. So for example, when people come into my clan's lobbies, they'll see we are average players and not expect top play from us just because we have a clan tag.

    As for team play ranking and ranking clans, here's how PlanetSide does it, and it's wonderful:

    Nothing specific has been said, though personally I wonder as well: What exactly does "ranked gameplay" even mean if it doesn't include a matchmaker? A matchmaker is at the core of such a feature imho.

    I couldnt think of anything more boring to watch or play, before you know it, there will be flat maps with grid like metal points.

    A fair map doesnt have to mirrored, it doesnt have to be boring.

    I raise the question as much to stop people jumping to conclusions as anything else so we can avoid another community debacle on the 31st. The update says nothing about matchmaking, yet there's a lot of questions about the map pool.

    As to what use rankings are (assuming they're publically visible):
    1. Help you avoid games where you're totally outmatched
    2. Help make for better team game balance
    3. Provide you more motivation to play

    Well if there is none it would be kinda funny. They kinda walk the exact same development path PA Stats took: First there was a ladder where you setup your games by hand. Then it got autosetup.

    At least some of the current pastats maps are somewhat symmetric too and I don't mind.

    And the SupCom and FA maps were also symmetric, fwiw.

    First round will be Uber made maps, but the idea right now is we would rotate, hopefully with some cool community made ones. Just an idea, but seems to fit what you guys are wanting as well, so that is a good bonus :p

    Yep! Will have more info on the details as they get locked down, but will have matchmaking in the end of October release.

    I would be pretty cool to see hand made maps from the community in the future in that mappool. Adding such a map into PA would mean setting up an extra biome and a single map definition for them. Not hard to do for you guys I'd say :p
    They would even be much better if we could place mex features by fixed positions.

    The ONLY thing that would make this better is symmetrical metal. Or, at least equi-distant from each player. There should be a toggle. A toggle would be nice :D

    i dont know why people are against mirror maps, there are plenty of examples that mirror maps are good (starcraft for example)

    One little detail would be a "forfeit" button. Many beginners don't realize that they could just kill their commander instead of quitting the game and wasting the other player's time.
