I've been searching and I can't find this posted anywhere since the offline update was released. My friend and I could connect in one house fine last week (with many connection drops for no reason I might add), but now we can't connect at all. If I host in any way he gets a "Login to server rejected" message every single time. And if he hosts I just get a "Connection to server failed" message. Both our firewalls are off. We're definitely on LAN. Has anybody else run into this issue or know any possible solutions?
Just wondering. Do either of you use Wi-Fi? PA uses a LOT of data that has given some Wi-Fi routers trouble in the past. Try resetting the router and see if that helps.
We are both on wired gigabit with hefty gaming PCs that can handle hosting the game. Tried rebooting the game, the router, and even our PCs.
Any chance anyone of you have Hamachi or other VPN installed? For me it's caused issues with connection to local server.
I haven't had any issues yet but i have some suggestions, 1, On the router try port forwarding both port "6543" and "20545" The 2 current versions of PA use these ports maybe having the router open them may assist in dropout and connection problems. 2, In windows or whatever OS your using make sure your both on the same subnet.. (The router should put you both on the same subnet via DHCP but sometimes in windows the IP can be set manually and it may be incorrect and cause issues)
I do have Hamachi installed, but not actively running. I'm not able to test anything right now, but I'll try completely disabling it tonight and see if it changes anything. I'll also try opening some ports for the connection to Playfab or whatever it's called, and double check IPs and whatnot.
I know of the followign 3 rules for LAN servers: 1. The host (= first login and person who sets it up) has to join from the same computer. 2. The game must be set to public by the host 3. The display names must be different for everfy logins (no duplciate dispaly names). On that one I got stuck for quite some time myself.
Right, and regarding 3, you set the display name by just typing it in in the USERNAME field in the main menu. No need to sign in, so you can type in anything you want. That part is rather counter-intuitive.
Alright, I'm not sure what fixed it exactly, but I'm going to blame Hamachi. I uninstalled it and started a local game set to public (Cause that's totally obvious -_-). So one of those two fixed it.
