Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 @3.00 Ggz Ram: 6 Go Windows 8.0 64 bits Ati Radeon 5870 Hello, I know I am under the required specs but I was truly disappointed when I tested the offline mod. The game lags terribly and really more than in online mod. The online mod was not great but at least it was possible to get some decent games in single planet systems. Is there something I can do ? ( beside getting better hardware) Can I expect better optimization in the near future for the offline mod ? Thank you.
But you are not only just under the required spec, you are well below. You need a quad core, you only have two. You need 8 GiB of RAM, you only have 6 GiB. You may be able to get away with small systems, such as a single radius 500 moon or so though, but that's about it. That being said, I'm sure they are not done optimizing yet, but I wouldn't hold your breath to be honest. Simulating multiple planets with loads of units is hard work for any computer. By the way, it's not a mod. The offline server was released by Uber itself. EDIT: Oh, sorry, you probably meant "mode" instead of "mod".
I just ran a test scneario: 2 Palyer system. 2 normal AI me as spectator. The server worked with below 300 MiB RAM and CPU load having difficulty even reaching 1-2%. I guess not running it in headless mode would let the Window take more resources then the actuall game itself. I need to check what happens in bigger systems with more AI (Battlefield, 10 absurd). Edit: 10 Absurd AI in Battlefield has the server starting at 1.8 GiB RAM and CPU load under 5%. This RAM is in addition to the one the client needs for the planet display. It is by design a client-server architecture. Having the server run on the same computer does cut down on any Network/internet issues. But it does put a ton of extra strain on the computer.
Well I am surprised that the game offline is way behind in frame rate than the game online. This is not what I was expecting. Anyway, with my specs I can play most big games... I agree my specs are not conventionnal but it is not that bad. Only 2 cores but faster than most configs, etc.
If you play online half the load is put on the online server. If you play offline your computer suddenly needs to deal with everything itself. The client alone is already too much for your computer.
Ok, I understand your insight^^ I have read some people had better performances offline and it is the opposite for me, disappointing ;-)
Ya man, I hate to say it, but your Laptop isnt built for big games like PA >-< And also... Why do you just have Windows 8.0? The Windows 8.1 is a free upgrade that improves everything.
I disagree with your 2 points I don't upgrade because there are windows 8 versions that can't upgrade like mine. My Laptop is enough to play "big games" but not for PA.
I understand it I would like advices to know where to buy -assemble a computer with good quality-price in France. I have checked RDC, LDLC or Cdiscount but I am not convinced by what I have seen. May be should I ask this somewhere else? tell me guys plz, ty Herrr, I have just seen there was a "mega-thread". I guess I am not the first asking for help about that.
Yes, join the mater race. Build your own PC, and join the fight. Also as more patches are released the performance may change, e.g. a more smarter and optimized code.
Yep, there's some sound advice on what hardware to buy but for purchasing advice in France particularly I'd probably direct you to the ever-knowledgeable @tatsujb
I would advise Topachat (having bought there all but one piece of my 3 months old PC) Their configomatic is "hardware-noob" friendly.
huh, thanks! Code: http://youtu.be/yyN7rPbHybk?t=7m26s x'D Uhm I always build my computer from pieces bought here and there. Amazon.fr have the most competitive prices considering they offer shipping. That's what I'd advise doing. If you want me to choose your parts tailored to your needs just PM me.
