There should be a confirmation pop-up shown to players when eco modifiers between players are unequal and the host presses the start button. Anyone who says no is unreadied. This should prevent most cases of trollery.

Or players should just look at the eco modifiers before pressing ready and call out the people that were about to troll to turn it back? :>

(Honestly, I just don't want an annoying confirmation thing every time I play a game with modified eco.)

But what if they create the lobby with the economy modifiers before making the lobby public?

I think simply making the text bright red when the economy modifiers are unequal would be enough.

But then again, why not both?

We also need a ping or ring button so that we can ping or ring players who still need to ready up

This wouldn't show up if the disparity was just between players and ais and would be moddable anyway so you could remove it if you didn't like it.

A lot of people don't know about the economy modifier feature, nor what it even does. Remember how many issues we had when the economy modifier was how people configured the difficulty? People also may not look at the replays and just don't understand why they got beaten so badly and just ragequit.

The pop-up would come up when the host presses "start game". I don't see any way to avoid it.

I think this is a good idea and would be willing to click an extra button a few time if the reward was reduced trolling.

A better solution is that you just unready everyone if you change someone's eco modifier.

Prevents last minute changes / stupidity, and could be used for anything (different map, teams, allies, etc)

Doesn't help people who don't know what it means.

This is already done for map / team / slot etc ... Which is why it would not be sufficient. People would just not understand and re click on ready.

Un-ready + highlight is a minimum in such cases.
Warning confirmation may be another failsafe.

Fair enough. I'd go for un-ready and highlight (for any change, really). Dialog boxes are irritating and people stop reading them very quickly.

Basically just need to answer the question of 'why am I not ready any more?' and you'll be fine.

How about unready, and show a non-modal notification.

I definitely support this. It'd be far better to prevent any potential trolling that could dishearten new players.
