I understand DRM and all that, but to just drop a single player game because the connection to the server was lost seems silly to me.. Checking in with the servers on launch or something else works great, but a single player game that has NOTHING to do with the internet, or shouldn't is a bad decision. Did you're dev team not learn from the UbiSoft always on DRM fiasco and how that worked out for them? Being in Costa Rica, internet is stable for the most part, but there are times when it can go out for a few hours and it is nice to game on a single player game, i guess that won't be an option for me for this game?
It's not DRM (I wouldn't have backed if it had that), it's because the local server has not been released yet. You are playing on Uber's servers, even when playing just single player. They had a local server running during the PAX event, but it was far from user-friendly. Once that is whipped into shape, it will get released and then you won't need internet anymore and can also host LAN parties without any internet requirements. When they will release it, is not know though. "Soon". They are working hard on it anyway.
Good to know, stinks cause it just happened again! and i was doing well, guess i will go play something else for now cause i really don't want to be kicked from another game, last hour wasted of my day off
Yeah, it's no fun. I do hope they release it soon. You might have better luck with the AI Skirmish mode. No worries about save games and you should be able to reconnect if your connection drops. It's no Galactic War, but at least you get to blow up stuff.
Connection to server lost in my last faction commander battle in GW... SP .. AI crashed moon into mine, launched nukes at it, connection dropped on collision. (Ie, server crashed) btw.. my nukes disappeared after launch never to be seen again anywhere, not in orbit, not impacting, nowhere. Latest PTE This sucks!
Just lost connection again... any ETA uber on your local server to avoid this and end one more issue that can be losing your customers?
Now the game is so choppy just annoying to play, back to some games that know how to host online services
I too am getting disconnected... every time I send a unit to another moon in a fight during a galactic war... Have to start the whole encounter over. (At least it doesn't clear the galactic war...)
Just checking in, I'm still getting this trouble, even in AI skirmish mode. a 40 minute game that was tense, wasted. Is there any update on the progress of this? I mean if they started making a local server at PAX, then they should be able to finish it right? RIGHT?!?!?!?
https://forums.uberent.com/threads/offline-play-is-coming-october-9.64936/ It's official. Offline mode is indeed coming for PA.
