You didn't happen to press "control + y" did you? As this toggles the visibility of the points (and other visual aids).

It's probable an issue of old drivers. Please attach a saved DxDiag.txt.

Yeah, that setting doesn't effect extractor points.

I have the same problem and I know whats causing it. You have the ATI Radeon 4810 series card. Its an issue with all 48xx cards. And ,well, it has been for a while now as in the order of 3+ months. Honestly I don't think it will be ever fixed. And it irritates me massively because each patch i come longingly checking to see if it has been fixed.

Also likely there will be other UI bugs that you may not have noticed. I cant see unit icons of units traveling between planets nor does the north/south pole marker appear properly. And finally I don't see a number above the spawn points at the beginning of the game.

The devs know about the issue, and say they haven't fixed it because they haven't been able to get hold of any 48xx cards to fix the problem. Well they aren't hard to find and since the release of 1.0 and the announcement of their new KS I highly doubt its high on their list of priorities.

    Your drivers are quite old:
But the reason for that is that AMD has dropped support for your graphics card because it's more than five years old already. So they won't make new drivers available for it anymore... Unfortunately, PA needs the latest drivers because many bugs in AMD's OpenGL implementation have been fixed since then. Most other games use DirectX which was better supported back than, but because PA is not a Windows-only game, it needed to use OpenGL. Like rabidginger said, it's probably not high on their priority list to work around a driver bug that affects only five-year old cards.

Unfortunately, that leaves you with only two options. Either upgrade the graphics card to something more recent or set up a dual boot with Linux. The AMD drivers for that OS do still have recent drivers for your card. Sorry I don't have any better answers.

Linux have open source drivers that used instead of one AMD website provide. Those drivers don't have this problem, but you'll need to apply one mod to make game work properly.

Mod is called "mouse cursor fix" and can be downloaded using PA mod manager:
