We've all run into the issue of trying to remember which teleporter goes to which planet – especially with the army game mode.

So I have a suggestion. When you double click or alt click or ctrl click on the teleporter, the other end of the teleporter is brought up in the PiP.

And/or, when you double click or alt click or ctrl click on the teleporter, the main camera goes to the other end of the teleporter.

Would be really helpful for large games when you get a lot of teleporters setup.

When selected simply highlighting the planet the other is connected to in the top right that would be helpful too without needing the camera moved or the pip opened.

That is helpful, but doesn't cover all scenarios since teleporters do go from same planet to same planet – especially on large team games. Players will get a network of teleporters up that don't leave the planet.

Those are more fringe cases, and the highlighting you suggest would cover most scenarios.

Remember that brilliant idea I had for a button somewhere on the UI for teleporters that if clicked would move the camera to and/or show in PiP the other side? Go with that.

Why a button? Why click on the teleporter, then move the mouse to the button, then click.

    Why not just double click?

Remember how I said the button should hover over the gate?

    No, I don't remember that.

So click on the teleporter, a button appears, and then click on the button... That could work. Pretty much the same, but has a visual indication.

Hell you could make a whole teleporter UI.

I could see mods that make gate management automated by connecting planets to each other on a need to traval bases for ground units, automatically connecting to the needed gates just at the right time to ensure units get to the right destination.

Almost like a kind of Just In Time production managementhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_in_time_(business) where one gate is on-line for just long enough to complete it's order and then auto switching off when not needed.

    It's WYSIWYG :p.

On a slightly related note, teleporters should be considered in pathing. In a game I played recently I sent a whole bunch down to help a teammate and naturally I gave the order to move forward so they wouldn't clog up the exit, but this basically gave 2/3s of my backup an invalid order so they just sat huddled around the other gate like hobos gathered around a garbage can fire.

    VERY much so.

Then it doesn't matter. Just give units a move order, even to another planet, and bam they go.

That would be awesome, definitely would support the macro setting. It would also allow for queues from factories to send units where you want them straight through the teleporter, the only issue I find is when your teleporters are fluctuating because of crappy energy Eco. (Crappy as in players fault)

Factory's can be ordered to send units through a teleporter, and then the receiving gate tell the units additional orders.

Well what it should do is when you give a command on the other side of a teleporter the game should automatically queue a use teleporter command before it.

We can, but it'd be so much easier to give a move order. Especially would be easier and better because we'd be able to give orders to groups of units.
