Don't worry, I'm sure the upcoming "suprises" will liven up the forums, for better and worse.

It's only 3wks since they Released - maybe let them have a bit of a break?

I don't think there's a lot left to discuss at this point. Uber have proven that they'll stick to their own, completely arbitrary schedule regarding development. Major features promised for launch will come whenever they see fit because "release is just a label".

So why bother spending time on the forums, debating how features will work or whether they'll be implemented at all? Uber have chosen to stay quiet on most fronts - why shouldn't the community do so too?

Oh it wasn't an announcement, just a post by Brad.

There is a difference between a break and 95% radio silence. Not to mention that release and right after it is when you'd assume they'd be active to capitalize on all the extra marketing brought about by releasing.

Perhaps the silence from Uber, especially on the forums, is because of all the immature and largely unconditional hate and distrust for various aspects of the game and/or Uber.
Why would they wish to visit a place that is only going to put a huge cloud on their day?

Seriously, the amount of B****ing that has been going on around the forums, reddit and other locations regarding PA, what it has and doesn't have is frankly ridiculous and I don't blame them for staying away from it - all they'll do is poke the lion, and that's not a great thing to do - you can't fight the internet. (Though you can appease them) and we know that appeasing is usually less desirable than embracing and communicating etc but hey ho.

Who knows, they might actually be...ya know.... working on stuff?

Check the support section and look at the pinned threads and click on the PTE streams, those usually are recent and shows oncoming features

Yeah, the forums have seemed dead for a couple weeks now. A lot of posts and new people, but it's the same 3 threads repeated a hundred times. All griping, all the time.

I can't blame developers for avoiding the forums - as great as it is to see Mavor et al. posting in person, it's not their job, and it's also not their area of expertise. Community interaction is a very taxing activity, and that's why you hire specialised personnel to deal with it (Brad).

But: When you're playing with hype, when you're evoking past games to advertise your present product, and when the very foundation of your project is community interaction and goodwill (read: Kickstarter and pre-release supporters), then you owe these people a minimum of communication. Because they made it happen. Don't get me wrong: I'm not talking about daily developer posts, or detailed schedule data, or regular office vlogs or whatnot. But a basic roadmap? A realistic projection of the future months and upcoming features? Something?

Radio silence is the worst strategy possible. Because there's a bunch of passionate, deeply invested fans (both emotionally and financially) waiting for updates, promised features - for acknowledgement. Especially after the lackluster release. If you continually hype a community for your own purposes, you'll ultimately have to deal with the expectations you create - either by fulfilling them, or by communicating well. And so far, we're seeing neither.

why should it be dead? its weekend people want to go out ... for the most time ... why is it such a problem
when for a couple days people aren´t discussing stuff like crazy ...
sure it´s a bit quite now since the last major update ... uber is either taking a bit of a brake or is quietly working on stuff ...
as for the forumdiscussions ... i don´t know ... what topic of relevance to PA didn´t we not discuss before ... since for the most part almost everything that has been suggested torwards improvement of gameplay, map/planetgeneration, multiplayer and gallactic war has been discussed even with few stuff barely scratched ... i mean just look at the number of threads that this forum includes oppened over the course of 2 years ..
and frankly it gets more difficult to bring in something new that doesn´t sound like it has been already there in some way imho ..
i think we know for the most part where PA is heading torwards to, we know what needs and will likely be worked on down the pipe and we know what is rather unlikely to get in ...
so aside from discussing new patches and content updates as they come, and critisizing reviews
i don´t see realy all that much comming content or featurewise that hasn´t been dicussed before ...
i will make one new thread which is more a philosophycal discussion (maybe even write a block and link it to reddit ... but not sure on that) but aside from moddiscussions and the occacional bugdiscussion ... i don´t see realy much new topics with high relevance and variety, that don´t focus on a particular piece of content or feature, coming in the future .. yet again that doesn´t mean the forum is dead just that the ammount of discussion decreased and i dont find that all too suprising actualy ...
