Hey everyone first of all, it's been quite a ride for me in PA this year. I've played a lot and had some good and bad moments. Since the release I'm quite happy with the state of the game. It's much more stable and seems overall pretty balanced and is really fun to play. What I noticed however is, that the commander hardly plays any role on the battlefield. Lots of players leave their com just idle after about 10-15 mins in the game which often helped me to just send an orbital laser sneak attack and get rid of em, once i had satellite cover. What if we had a uber commander, i.e. a buildable upgrade, sort of an exo-battle suit for the com? A little bit like the experimental units in SupCom? It would be a strong unit in battle, much more hp/armor, much more firepower, but if it goes wrong one would risk everything. What do u guys think of it?
Please do a search, this isn't the first time this has been brought up. If you leave your commander idle, then you're making a big mistake. It's the most efficient builder, so always have it building. Commanders are supposed to be a liability. Lose the Commander, lose the game. The Commander isn't supposed to be on the front lines. This is a macro game built around the premise of large armies, not a single hero unit destroying everything. It simply doesn't fit in with the playstyle of PA.
Think of the commander as the CPU of your army, you can't just swap it or upgrade it during a battle, it will have to be more of a liability as the battle goes on. Lose it and your computerized army crashes.
