I'd guess the programmer was thinking "it is a roguelike", but not that somebody might want to pause midgame.
These look to be HTML5 IndexedDB database files backed by Chrome's LevelDB storage (since Coherent UI is based on Chromium). In theory, it should be possible to view the database using Chrome's built-in developer tools, but I haven't figured out how to open it yet. Some of the code used seems to be in /media/ui/main/game/galactic_war/shared/js/gw_manifest.js.
FYI you need to quit the game BEFORE the "You've been Annihilated" screen is shown in order to be able to restart. I didn't do this in my Galactic War Credits galaxy game last night and lost the whole thing (after the @mkrater AI steamrolled my base and then stopped me from setting up a beachhead on the moon with my lone Commander). In an unrelated note, I'm having a lot of trouble handling multiple planet systems where the AI starts on another planet when I don't have any orbital tech. This really frustrated me, which is why I'm trying to figure out how to open the database and see if there's anything I can do bring my game back.
alt+f4 trick has worked for me 3 times so far, so that is one way to do it. The AI and the endless plane building is annoying with the Commander helping the air factory the entire game.. AI definetly needs some work. I do understand, or assume this game's focus is the multi-player which i think i would get my butt handed to me in, but with the AI being a little smarter, it could be a nice single player game....
It's much like Galactic War so the systems change and bounce around. I've never been able to play my own system because they were linked to enough other systems that I fail to conquer and get to it
I have so much lets play to climb thru... I will probably do that next, after wrapping up my current war which I still haven't beat a faction on yet because the factions were wierdly divided so I didn't go straight to the leader.
Hi. Up until today I had an ogoing singleplayer war. I had won aproximately 8-10 wars. It was a war that I had saved between wars several times , game had been restarted several times in between the matches. But.. today... I had to "pause" the game and do some other stuff for a short bit. When I came back. I was back to the main game screen. And all my saved progress was lost. I tried exiting the game to login again but.. it is still lost. Now I will have to restart entirely. Any suggestions? /Me
I assume this may be the Connection to server lost perhaps, as i have had this happen to me twice, but it did not delete my saved game data and just kicked me back to the Galactic Map screen to choose "fight" again.
I signed in just to say this. This is absolutely crap. I played 6-7 big wars and decided I had better leave to go do something. Now my progress is COMPLETELY GONE and I can't resume my war. NO saves. NOTHING. I am so pissed off. Whats the point of making a single player campaign if you have to sit for about 100 hours straight to finish it and can't save / have a life outside for a little while? Wow this is crap. It's been nearly a year since people have complained about it too... When is it going to get fixed?
Since the last patch there really should be a full save function? Maybe yours was an old war? Or did you not patch so far? They also improved GW gameplay quite a bit: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/release-build-82834-is-live.68993/
I saved my game. Then I pressed escape, and then quit to menu, and then quit game. When I went back in, save was gone. All empty. My PA is completely up to date and I started this war about 1 week ago so no old wars or game versions. This is extremely frustrating. I'm losing trust in the game and I'm reluctant to start a war only to have my save disappear again half way through after a lot of hours played. I'm seriously annoyed tonight about this...! I lost everything!
Just to check as it took me a few days to figure it out: They redesigned the layout of the Galactic War screen. Previously, if you went to the Galactic War screen, it would start with the currently on-going wars. When I first went to GW after the new update, it immediately went to the New Game screen again instead, so I assumed that it had deleted my old GWs. This was not the case however. There is a button at the bottom called "Saved Games" where they now live. My old ones from before the update are still there.
okay, I am a bit stupid. When you click the adandon war, it deletes your save game. I think that should be removed though, it is a little misleading.
