From the limited information provided, I'd suspect network issues. See my signature for guidelines on getting a system report, and please clarify "fails" and "can't create"

Better, but GW has a number of screens: - Active Wars, if you've played before - New War, depending on what you mean by new game - intro video - hits network - star map - starting a battle ("Calculating Vector", or something similar) - hits network - RTS - hits network a lot [/quote] That sounds kind of networkish; it displays the messages in response to the server connect attempt - the game could use a timeout here ;^)

Interestingly, ping times to the modem itself show higher than expected latencies and packet loss. Possibly flaky hardware, apparently the Technicolor TC8305C they installed is known to suck.
Um, yeah, that's pretty bad. I had very low packet loss for a while; things mostly worked, but I would get disconnects during games. I replaced my router (a brief experiment with alternate firmware on the same hardware had the same improvement)
