No longer in the Twilight Zone :(
In all seriousness, though, I wouldn't call this so bad. Saying "This game should have a ladder" isn't as bad as "0/10 worst game forever Uber is Satan."

I do hope that a bit of promotion by Uber for PA Stats matchmaking will soon become reality, asked @BradNicholson about it yesterday and he said he'll look into it :)

Actually I have no problem with that statement, that's his opinion. Where I have a problem is when he continues with the Uber ran out of money FUD and saying that Uber made other games using PA funds kickstarter funds. That now changes this from his opinion to slander.

Would that be a good thing?
I mean yeah, it's always cool when a company promotes modders, but what if they do it to the point of not making a ladder of their own?
Not saying they would do that, but they could.

    Ah. Yeah that's pretty bad.

But hey, the funding for Toy Rush didn't come out of nowhere.
I mean a small mobile game pet project clearly took out a huge chunk of PA's funding. Obviously.

I was thinking about it among the lines of Uber generally promoting community efforts, so not only matchmaking but also things like exodusesports, pamm, pamatches, etc pp
I don't think Uber will decide not to implement features just because a community implementation exists, unless they can incorporate the code of the community version, which isn't feasible with some like a matchmaking system.

Argh.. you too? Why could they not have gotten some other investment from outside? Why is everyone so sure they did this?

LOL you got me! I'm not sure why this bothers me so much. It just really rubs me the wrong way.

They partnered with Tilting Point for Toy Rush, so there's that.

Actually, I speculate often, that the old mnc members they still hold as permanents and to hold for their unique talent in their use, are kept on low budget games, just to maintain their cost in salary.

this is speculation. And tbh, since very short development games create a safe return usually, its a great idea.

I am also not speculating Toy Rush or Outland Games are desperate side projects, both are worth their cost, nothing revolutionary but definitely not the worse clone in their fields. One can take pride in their work.

Toy Rush was made with help from Tilting Point. Outland Games was made with an early form of the PA engine and help us port the engine to OSX (which also helped us port to Linux).

"Hurr durr dem other platformz must be wrong becos' they disagree, ph34r my wrath".

Take a look at the Reddit thread. You'll see valid criticism. And chances are you'll see a lot of forum regulars there, too.

It was seriously made with an early version of the PA engine? That's crazy x3

The point isn't that they disagree, it's that they spread missinformation.

Im conflicted, i know they will have a ladder eventualy as said by uber_neutrino on reddit:

    http://www.reddit.com/r/planetaryan...o_stretch_goals_announced_naval_units/c5xc429

But as a guy that enjoys competitive play, im pretty much screwed by my time zone, i cannot find any PA stats 1v1 ladder or any sort of chalenging matches when im fresh enough to play.

Im forced to play at times i dont even enjoy playing games, and even then its hard getting good balanced 1v1s 2v2s, which result in me getting frustrated at the game.

I dunno, i think ill wait until they implement a ladder or PA stats is actualy endorsed by uber, i just cant be bothered playing on a daily basis, the games arent fun to me anymore after 4 months of it.

I guess for a couple casual games a month with friends its a blast but for me playing for the chalenge and improving daily it isnt a possibility or even fun.

Except for the very last line, the linked Reddit thread is an opinion piece which most of the forum users will instantly agree with - because it hits the nail on the head.

And again: There is no "they" - it's "us". Most users of the PA subreddit are active on the forums and vice versa. Judging the subreddit based on a single line from an otherwise valid thread is like dismissing the PA forum because you happen to disagree with a single user for whatever reason.

    Really??

Thats actually pretty cool, considering how different the games are. How cool would it be if the PA engine becomes the next unreal or unity?

That's actually one of their hopes I assume, they said they'll be selling the engine so companies can use it! :D
