So the only way I can get the game to even get to the login screen is to run in the Windows 7 compatibility mode. This makes no sense at all to me. I have a fresh load of Win 7 64 bit (reloaded entire system) to get this game running and still having this issue. Additionally, with running it in compatibility mode I'm unable to get any game above "medium" to load. I left the game running all night trying to load on Epic with no results.

Check you are not runnning the game with your integrated graphics and try to properly reinstall your drivers.

THANKS kjotak109! It appears loading DirectX and C++ as you suggested solved the problem... very bizarre with 1/2 working while running in compatibility mode. Either way now working and after a week of waiting to load the 64 bit Windows 7 I can actually have fun No clue what was going on regarding graphic card reporting in dxdiag, but.... moving on
