I wouldn't rate this as any kind of a deal breaker, i.e., I'm not too terribly stressed about it, but I am curious. I bought the game today (on Steam), and when launching it, I had to create an Uber account naturally. Being late to the party, my preferred pseudonym was already taken of course. Anyway, long story short, I chose "DreamQuest," but as you can see, it got flattened out to "dreamquest" (my highlighting is just to show the case change). Why? And is there any way to change it back to what I actually entered?
To change your Display Name in-game, click on the Social Icon in the lower right-hand corner. A menu should appear with your name and a dropdown box to change your online status. Below that says, "Change Display Name." A box will appear where you can type in your New Display Name. If the name you've entered has already been taken, a message will appear to notify you. If you'd like to change your Forum name to display capital letters, please go to My Account to change your display name here: https://store.uberent.com/Account/MyAccount Please note, to create capital letters in your Forum name, your Display name must remain the same (except for the capital letters.)
Interesting. In the link you provided, my account info is showing my "USERNAME:" as "dreamquest" and my "DISPLAY NAME:" as "MegaStorm". (MegaStorm is my Steam name, and as the accounts are now linked, I guess that's not surprising.) Problem is that it's not letting me update my USERNAME which is the one in question, and the one being used here on the forums.
Oh, that's because you can't change your account username. Allowing username changes can increase harassment and trolling on the Forums which we'd like to discourage.
Okay, and I don't disagree with that policy, but I am not asking to personally be able to change my name. I'm asking for an Forum Admin (or you, being an employee and, therefore, the ultimate Admin ) to go in and just change the casing of my name to what I originally entered via the game. That's all. (I entered "DreamQuest", not "dreamquest". My first choice was "MegaStorm" obviously, but that was already taken.)
If you go to My Account and change your Display name to DreamQuest, it should display with the capital letters in the Forums.
Alright. It took a while for it to sink in what you told me twice now. In my defense, I guess it was because I really didn't want to change my in-game display name, i.e., MegaStorm (since that's how everyone knows me), but I just wanted to change my username (which, in turn, would be used as my forum name if it differed with my Display Name, apparently). So going back to the beginning (my first post above), I entered "DreamQuest" when creating the account, and your in-game S/W flattened it out to "dreamquest." Is there no way to update my records/account to fix your faux pas? Edit: Okay, this is going from bad to worse. Now that I have changed my display name from "MegaStorm" to "DreamQuest," my forum name did update to show the proper casing, but now in-game, it's showing me as "dreamquest" (my user name, all lower case).
I've seen other posts that say they've found a bug in-game with the Display Name. The Devs are working to resolve this issue. I apologize for any inconvenience.
No problem. But since my last post, I've changed nothing, but as you can see, I've somehow reverted back to the lower-case "dreamquest" moniker. (As we are probably in a way different timezones, you may not have seen it, but when I changed my Display Name to "DreamQuest," that was what was showing up here in the forums all day until now.) Anyway, the whole thing would be resolved is someone would just go into my account and update my name. I truly appreciate all your attention, but I swear, it's like pulling blood from a turnip.
It looks like the bug is affecting in-game name changes and returning your account username as your Display Name both in-game and in the Forums as a default. This is a known issue we are working to correct. As an FYI, all usernames are defaulted into lowercase. We can review a suggestion to allow usernames with different cases, but it's not something that can be adjusted at this time.
