Why hasn't there been a ranked matchmaking system developed yet? Every time I hop on the game I want to play some competitive but everytime I do I just lose because there's no real way to tell if you're facing an equivalently skilled opponent or not. A matchmaking system would make it so much easier for new kids like me to work their way up the ladder and learn the game step by step instead of just getting stomped and having to ask around constantly for strats and builds and what counters what blah blah blah. A matchmaking system like Starcraft's or even good old Halo Wars would prolong the life of this game a ton. Not to be that guy but I was really disappointed with the "launch" of this game and I don't really see a ton of replayability with it considering the AI are braindead and super easy and everytime I play against more than four AI on a multi planet system my game goes into slow motion.

A ladder and matchmaking should be in soon enough, it's Uber's second priority, after offline mode as far as we have heard.

Uber only has limited developer resources and they ended up bound to other things. I fully agree with you that missing ladders at 1.0 suck and I was quite vocal and aggressive about it when it first got discussed here.
But the reality is that it just wasnt possible to get everything we want right now. Uber will keep developing and I am sure they will deliver these features in the foreseeable future.

Till then I was so annoyed myself by the missing ladders that I added simple skill based matchmaking into www.pastats.com
It sure isn't as good as a stock implementation could be and the gamesetups are still a bit wonky, but I am working on improving it and hope to somewhat help to bridge the time till Uber is done. And it seems people are starting to use it, as there have been 109 games setup (it counts only once both players successfully have entered the game) in the last 30 hours or so. Not crazy much, but you can find a game if you are willing to wait a bit. Spread the word, the more people start using it the more fun it'll be.

Indeed, the AI can do some really good moves.

But it's macro, could use more....

I play the AI on Absurd with 1.2 resource bonus and they rarely ever come near killing me. It's pretty disappointing considering the hours I've put into Forged Alliance or Supreme Commander 2's AI battles.

Is it actually confirmed or is that just a rumor going around?

LOL the SupCom 2 AI is only really decent when it cheats.

Yeah ladders are confirmed, we just don't know exactly when. They were actually considering it for release because enough players complained, but ultimately they decided later.

Can we also get ladders for comp stomps and com boxing?

@cola_colin For some reason I can't respond to your comment due to "non whitelisted links" but I'm kind of hesitant on going to the whole ladder thing because it seems daunting. I'll look into it for sure I just wish I had a guide of some sort to point me in a good direction.

    Why were players complaining?

Yeah but it was way more fun than the AI in this game ATM. I have no idea what it is but they just seem braindead to me in this game.

You asked for matchmaking and now it seems daunting :p
You can go to http://ladder.pastats.tk/1on1 and click through to the pa stats pages for some 1vs1 of the top players. Like this one http://www.pastats.com/chart?gameId=200190
If you have setup https://forums.uberent.com/threads/info-how-to-open-replay-links.59212/ you can watch their replays.
I dunno, there may exist other tutorials, though the balance changes a lot until now.

The supcom ai felt really really stupid to me, every game is the exact same. They always build proxy bases in the same place, with the same format, and etc...

Because originally they said that it'd be after release because they thought only competitive players used it (to be fair like 75% of players play the ai so they had reasons to think so)

Enough players gave decent reasons and they said they may reconsider their stance, apparently they decided not to release with a ladder. :p

I mean setting up matches and what not. I think I'm just being dumb but going through a bunch of third party stuff seems like a hassle. I'm still going to do it, I'm just kind of hesitant.
I don't get why they wouldn't add it in for launch in the first place. Extra features makes it a better game even if only a small percentage plays competitively.
