gfx card is amd radeon hd 5770 sapphire

i did try posting this on pa.lennardf1989 but it just kept refreshing the page for me

after some experimenting i found that changing HDR setting sometimes stops this but the game is still alot brighter than usual

My first guess would be that you haveHDR disabled, or its not working on your card, i saw similar things when HDR was broken on OSX.

I have the same issue. Does not seem to be directly caused by enabled HDR, as I have it disabled and as the OP said even without HDR it still is really bright and has rather broken colors.
Like this is i.e. a screenshot on the low quality preset:

I have this bug on low settings
On uber settings, the terrain is dark and doodads's edges shine.

    Gfx card : hd 4870

You're right, it does happen even with HDR enabled, but for me just toggling f5 fixed. And this is on OSX.

Same here on HD 5850, on Medium settings.
ATI/AMD related (looking at above quoted hardware) ?

One of devs posted in another thread so they are aware of the issue. It seems to affect all cards 6xxx and lower plus the 7xxx series cards that are rebranded 6xxx series cards.

Same issue here on a Radeon 5870m

    Hi there,

is there a fix for this problem by now and I did not hear about it yet?

my game is still somewhat overbright on the "dayside" and all effects like explosions and nanol. are looking pretty ugly - while the "dark side" of a planet looks OK.

    I´m using a Radeon HD 6900 .. :-(

I´d love to play and mod my icons again but this bug annoys me way too much..

    cheers,
    Moldez

    Edit:
btw it doesn´t matter if I change any options - makes it rather worse than with all options enabled

    thx UBER,

with the recent update the "overbright" problem is gone .. at least for me - looks much much better now even if I still wish there were a brightness slider or something ;)

thx again - all options enabled and game looks fine and runs smooth!

    keep it up,
    Moldez

    hello :)

i got the same HDR issues since i changed my hardware from a Nvidia GTX 570 to an AMD Radeon R9 280 (has the same chip as HD 7950) video card. And if i disable HDR, its unplayable too bright.

since that day the HDR-effect seems to be broken. I did some comparisons with sreenshots from a PC with a Nvidia GTX 770; Nvidia is on top, the similiar scene rendered with my AMD video card thereunder. The graphics-settings were the same for both systems.

    Gas Giant comparison.jpg

HDR-disabled brightness of death (on top: "on", thereunder: "off"):
    HDR on_off.jpg

Obvious, that something goes wrong, but i couldn't find a solution yet. it happens with the stable Build 70289 and the PTE Build 71453. Additionally i deleted everything which is connected to the old Nvidia driver and updated the AMD driver to Catalayst 14.7 (14.4 did the same HDR-issues), but nothing changed.

btw, the steam-version laggs a lot, while the game runs smooth all the time (despite these HDR issues) with the uber launcher. System: Win8.1 update 1 x64

no idea how to fix this annoying Radeon-only bug. Tried all possible solutions, but none worked.
what i hate the most, are the weak colors on the daylight side of the planet :/ on the dark side of the planet, HDR is working fine and the colors are nice and pretty. because of this, i fear most of the Radeon users are already used to see these ugly colors, since they had no comparison to the non-bug look of this game
Would be very nice to have a slider to control the sunlight-intensity only for AMD Radeon video cards :D ... or a fix :)

I have this too, and better yet, a temp fix for you guys

    https://forums.uberent.com/threads/planet-lighting.63312/

I went a little extreme with the change in the mod posted, I'll created a bunch of "in-between" brightnesses and post them in a few minutes.

EDIT: made 4 mods at brightness levels of 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 across all planets. Pick and choose whichever you want.

I also included a simple tool for mass modifying json files if you wish to modify them further. Find instructions in ActionLists.txt or in the mod forum

Thanks, very useful mod. The 0.2 version is quite bright enough.
