There is a issue about the pause button. Uber needs to patch the pause button so it can be limited. It is quite frustrating to do a team game and have one random troll the game by pausing it every sec(like the game i just had). Also pausing so often lags the game really bad and often leads to crashes.

PLEASE UBER PATCH IT AND LIMIT THE USE OR SOMETHING :(

    Examples
    • limited amount of times
    • has a time buff between each pause

I think the lag is part of this patch and not the pause button as another game I played was just as bad and several players already exited the game before it started.

No, the pause button trolling is back with a vengeance, happened to me twice in the last days, seems some A****s just found out about it and it's becoming a real problem, there seems to be more players using this tactic to stop other players of enjoying the game. And since even players spectating can pause the game this is a real problem. Since a guy can lose, keep the pause button pressed and go to dinner or something.

A two minute cooldown after 3 pauses would go a long way to fix this, and not compromise legitimate use. Also when a game is paused it should show who is pausing it, so we can at least report these people but also good for legitimate uses too...

It's sad uber has to take time from actual coding to fix this kind of thing, tied to a few stupid people, but since the current resurgence of this trolling method i see no other way.

I think a cooldown of longer than two minutes would be better, say 10 or 15 minutes. If you need to go and do something 3 times in one match you shouldn't be allowed to ruin everyone else's fun because of it.

Also it's great to see someone else with a Terry Pratchett quote in their sig :).

I putted 2 minuted because sometimes in tourneys the organizers need to pause the game due to disconnects and the such. And a pause every 3 to 2 minutes is irritating but a game breaker.

there is no problem with the pause button.

    find yourself better playmates.

you can always send a mail to the Uber after-service with the replay id and the name of the person trolling you, they'll do something about whoever's causing you trouble.

It's our job as a community to behave so features like this do not get taken away from us.

    3 problems with that.
    - How to get a reply id? i bet 99% of the players don;t know it.
    - Replay's do not show pauses.
    - You can't see who's pausing.

Not to mention "find yourself better playmates" is just rude.
And if we could trust people to behave we would not need jails.

That is a very condescending affirmation, I like to play with people i don't know too, if you like to live in a bubble and only play with the people u previously played with be my guess, but be certain you are the exception in the community not the rule.

Also if these guy are trolling other people than me, does it make it ok for them to do so then?

We that are active in the forums are a minority, you can be sure that the cases we are reporting are only the tip of the iceberg.

Also if you are watching a replay it doesn't show the game being paused, or even who is doing the pausing.

there are people who dont have people to play with. And do you think they will do something about all the trolls. Changing the Pauses prevents trolls give them to break the game

It's obvious that pause behavior must be an option the host can set. When playing with friends, there is no need for any limits. But if I host public FFA for example, with a lot of players, I don't want anyone pausing ever, for any reason. I doubt anyone does.

Any screenshot shows the lobby ID. Uber has access to the servers, which means they get ALL of the data, whether the replay records it or not.

Also, this is an inherent risk of playing with random players. If they do this, then add them to your blocked player list and leave the game, why punish everybody for the VERY few misbehaving fools?

The pause screen most certainly should show who is pausing it, it helps to remove some of the anonymity that encourages this sort of thing.

    that's not what I mean.

you can easily distinguish troll by game count for example. (someone with a 1000 games is certain not to be a troll)

If game count was visible in the lobby you could sort the people who join by game count.

a combination of game count and rating is what allows us to never have to deal with trolls on FAF (or rather leave them amongst themselves, see how they like their own medecine) and it works even though FAF has a bigger gaming community then PA.

Why would a troll not play often though? Game count has very little to do with troll levels. :p

    you're very naive.
trolling like this gets old at about the third time you do it.

Now people with mental defects can keep going for awhile after that but even a person like that would want to do something else after the 200th time.

you try it. provoke/taut/prank someone in real life, see how many time it takes for it to get old.

the people who are still there after a thousand games are definitely there for the game and not anything else.

1000 is an exaggeration after 200 games it's safe to say a guy isn't there for trolling.

combined with ranking (which would be catastrophic after such behaviour) you know exactly who you're dealing with.

Ah well the real point is that a troll isn't always a troll, they did buy the game after all. This means they could take a looot of time into the game but at some point they feel like screwing with someone because people suck and would do that.
