After you actually win, Esc>Save+Exit, go back and try not to bugger it up again. If you do, Alt+F4 before the game notices.

There is an exploit that you can exit before you you to galactic map and you can restart that map...i never had to use it on my first time on Absurd but did it a couple of times on the small maps, still lost though xD

Done and done. Not strictly by the rules because I had to "ragequit" couple of times. Once in naval map (got no navy), once in four planet system where I got halley'd (didn't scout starting planet soon enough and build combat units instead of orbitals).

The farer I went, the easier it got. I need to try out again fighting 2 AI's alone to see was I just extremely lucky to beat them or was it just pure skillzzzz ;).

With two or three subcoms, game ran smoothly and with decent speed. At the end I got six subcoms and it was constant slowmotion - fun to see craploads of units but not so fun waiting them to move.

Need to try out smaller galasies and/or fewer subcoms to know more.

Hmm. Looks like I was extremely lucky when I beat two absurd AI's without subcoms. Tried it again few times (small/absurd GW) and AI rolfstomped me. As they say, better lucky than good :).

You can also pay attention to the color of the factions. For example, I believe purple tends to favor an air-heavy strategy. So if you have air tech, you can go troll his air fabbers early and keep him down for a bit. I found his air factory and set mine to build fighters with a rally point to area patrol a small space at the edge of his base but over his air factory.

Also, if there is a certain AI style you don't like to fight, choose that faction color yourself.

Oh, one more thing, in the late game where you know you have 4-5 planets in a system....well, every now and then it would be cool to just have 1 super planet =D because that actually will vary the late game up even more =)

Hehe. I survived 17mins. At the end, one AI got ~120 metal and another one 3400 :). At least you guys at Uber got name right - it is absurd :).

Haven't managed to do any early raids and been forced only to defence. Surely turtling is no go if you want to win. But I won't give up yet...

Well I didn't think I would actually try the Absurd hard mode on galactic war but after winning my first one I got the Commander Commander loadout so I actually am trying it out on Absurd difficulty level now in the uber galaxy :) I think I'm actually gonna win it too cause I have already gotten super weapons, 2 more sup coms so I already have 4 lol, and the complete vehicle technology so all 4 of my subcoms will dominate every planet I fight on :D I should even dominate the boss fights so I'm really sure I'll win yay SubComs :D

I am trying it out with the new build. I have always favoured testing what others don't.

I am having trouble with 1 distant asteroid with a 5 minute travel time to it, if I take it it consumes a lot of time to get to it first, and if I don't I can't capture it from the enemy.

The AI is nuke happy in GW PTE currently. If left alone for 15 minutes on a planet, they will fire 4 off regularly. I would have won via planetsmash, but second I am selecting halley launch, my halleys destroyed. Literally the very second I would have launched it. It sucks, but I will keep trying...

My only recommendation, is to limit distance from sun on GW systems, Uber. a 5 minute travel time is no mucho fun...

I lost my first match restarted and won the second. Still have to conquer the rest of those stars though.

I wanted to shed some light on some things I recently played...

This is a GW system with 3 planets, and an outlying asteroid. EMPHASIS: This asteroid is 5 minute travel time from the other planets.

This is a GW system with 3 planets. EMPHASIS: The metal is spawn wars miniscule style, only metal in whole game is 1 per possible spawn point, 6 per planet as there are 6 possible commander spawns per planet.

This is a GW system with a gas giant and 3 orbiting planets. This one actually was mostly normal, except the lunar biome planet had double metal and both enemies spawned on it. I lost twice on this one, then decided to go with a planet probably all to myself, and in fact worked as I carpet-nuked the other planet killing both enemies.

OK, so i went through the galactic war again....and it seems as if its gotten worse lol
First off, and the most important...the AI, its gotten dumber, it takes a while to attack, late games AI does not use many of its units, it just leaves them in its base. AI doesnt expand nearly as quickly and aggressively from what i remember and has problems going *full out* attacking, for instance, i had 10 infernos coming at me, and i had a single laser tower, but the AI kept *microing* infernoes and they never attacked and they all died to a single laser tower....and other similar instances where AI doesnt take any sort of small opportunity.
AI doesnt understand that gas giants are even in the system, (now that GW uses them) nor builds annihilasers, but i have never gotten really far in where an AI could consider it, so i dont know.
Sub-Commanders are even worse now as well, they build like 2-3 factories and just sort of sit there, hardly attacking, like they used to (where it was so funny and good that if you had so many sub-commanders that they would just win without you doing anything)
One good thing to note, is that AI are better at assualting planets, and wont send their commanders as much, so thats a relief (still happens though)

Tech still sucks, where many tech are obsolete (kept on getting those stupid energy storage and artillery techs) that make so little difference, its almost like Uber should split tech into major and minor techs so we can see some of the interesting but obsolete ones (like nukes doing 300% radius, wanted to try it, but cant get rid of my important orbital tech, or economy boosts)

Small maps are harder, and large ones are still easy, and for some reason sub-commanders seem to drop less =(
Faction leaders, are still the same. Except i noticed that the systems themselves have changed and are MUCH more interesting, so that really cool, i look forward to fighting faction leaders because of the interesting systems

And last...but not least, loosing once will loose you the ENTIRE game, simply because you spawned on an all water planet with no navy or something ridiculous. and then an expoit where you hit ALT+f4 to simply try that system again, which is an old, painful exploit that does not need to be there.

Also saving is not there, where i had to leave in this interesting 3v4 between multiple planets that was going on for 120 minutes, and i had to leave, loosing all my progress =(

A lot of things have gotten better, except for the AI itself, which is of course the ENTIRE galactic war....so thats really disappointing
