What do you guys think of Dox's strength in PTE? Dox's AA is seem to be more weaker? Dox is still OP? Discuss!

    Sorry for bad English

How do they compare to previous Dox? Damage, speed etc? Do they still fire underwater? I don't mind travelling through water but I heard somewhere that they weren't meant to be able to shoot in a water.

As Zaphod has said in casts its not clear that dox is op vs tanks

Watch this match between the current top 2 PA players:
Edit: WRONG VIDEO see post below.

Tanks do well and even having to add in AA units they still seem to be cost effective.

I would actually prefer that the ripper/ant/bolo/unit cannon to have a slightly lower damage/shot and higher firing rate (same dps) to be a bit more effective against the Dox. I think it the T1 tank has too much overkill (~2x) resulting in a greatly reduced effective DPS against the Dox. I think that with kiting the inferno leads to T1 bots being a bit too strong against T1 tanks.
I also think that the bumblebee's projectile velocity (15m/s) could be increased to help the accuracy against bots and increase their effectiveness early game.

Is the dox still amphibious and have AA in the PTE??

Yeah. However, clopse lost with bots against elodea who was using tanks in a recent tournament. So it probably creates hesitation to nerf them.

They feel like they move very slightly too fast and/or do too many things. Like, too many gimmicks.

For instance, with them you just need to rushdown enemies, with tanks you have to have them dense enough to get slammed into by dox ball and distributed enough to catch dox from slipping through and raiding ****.

Also, that tourney end had a moon planet, imagine if there was a elongated lake in the middle of that map...

That's supposed to be the difference between the dox and tank. The dox unloads it's dps and does damage over time while the tank offloads all its damage in one shot. It overkills dox but doesn't much other units.

Ouch. I thought that dox change was the last Pre-1.0 troll from scathis :(

We have only one race so all matches will be mirrors. The more time will pass, the matches will be more and more similar. To counteract this, giving a unit multiple properties and roles isn't a good idea.

Tanks pretty much only worked because elodea took a huge gamble that we would start so close and then as when he decided for the all in I wasn't ready to deal with it. Tanks right now have very niche instances when they are better. Any other time dox are better because their raiding is so strong.

I was under the impression these dox are as per the last PTE (i.e. tweaked vis a vis the current Stable build)?

Also does anyone know if the issues of dox firing whilst submerged have been fixed in this version as that would go a long way to balance them vs naval...

I didn't get to test it myself, but I'm pretty sure they can't shoot under water any more.

I think what would be helpful for those who haven't been keeping up with PTE would be to show the changes between stable and current PTE. If you were to do that there would be difference to the DOX.

We had one PTE release that got retracted, I got to play with it a bit. In that one there were a couple of changes.

Good. Now I can counter dox only builds without having to ignore naval and air completely.
