I am actually looking forward to this launch as many feature such as dedicated server might come along with it.

And if this dedicated server/offline mode comes, I will no longer have to worry about my internet connection!

I am going to be realistic here.

There are some things that might not make it to release from what it seems:
    -Player Serverside
-Linux fix for difficult bug making game really hard to launch a game
    -Balance

This patch may be similar to gamma release, where game went early access to retail purchasers and very large new gameplay additions were made.

However, in the one step at a time fashion, this is so obviously going somewhere. The worse thing anyone can do is sink it. It is like... if Thomas Edison's mother had an abortion. That situation is different because you don't know, but in actuality it would have ended something great before it even started. This situation, you know.

Point is, nobody wants this to end, at least nobody should directly want this to end, that is just malicious.

What you should want, is "release date" aside, for the game to continue to patch all these in. Linux as fast as possible for instance. Server side sooner rather than later. Balance can continue to get patched until it feels better and better, and imo more importantly unit roles can continue to come in and come in.

Want a bright side to all of this? Release or not, we will still continue to see updates to this game. New units and other jolly good entertainment. That, we get either way.

They obviously intend well, else they wouldn't even care if we got server side modding yet. They are speeding things up as fast as they can, and they wouldn't wish linux bugs or bad timings on themselves, so stay positive all!

Won't they release it before PAX? They wouldn't risk taking an untested version of the game to it or would they?

No they confirmed their goal is for us to get it first, then PAX to demo it to public, then release shortly after. That is the their idea.

Thing is, it is Wednesday now. Imo they should release it tonight so they have time to catch anything stupidly bugged in the version they will be showing at PAX. I mean that would be very bad if gas giants have some kind of major issue that renders it unplayable. :(

If Thomas Edison was never born we'd all be enjoying free electricity.

But the game still has serious problems with slowing down in the late-game. I'm starting to get quite worried!

The problem is: the "it's not finished"-excuse doesn't work anymore. It has to work now, and if not...well that'll be the end...kind of. If all review pages rate it badly, then...game over.

A lot of people have no idea of the apparent "promised" features, this is easily evident by what reviews we have currently.

GTA Online boasts "heist" missions online since 3 months before launch. Postponed launch to expand on it. On launch, didn't release them, released with tons of bugs. Took 1-2 months to fix most gamebreaking bugs, apologized for it though and was very generous about it. Yet, they add content almost monthly, and still haven't added heists almost a year later.

They had nearly NO pressure though. Sold record sales first day, rated highly reguardless. It was like they DIDN'T release in a poor state, didn't have any problems whatsoever.

This game, I think reviews will be shaky just because reviewers can. Reviewers can't sink GTA Online, their watchers play it, they sink it and they lose watchers and their precious viewerbase. Sadly, they will be mostly wrong in their reviews even, yet nobody will mind it, even as this game continues growing people will say "well the review was more right back when the game released", and I will have to tell anyone trying to argue it "No, the reviewer claimed to spend time reviewing the game, and spent 2 minutes watching someone else try it out and 5 hours editing a flashy video".

Edited. I have replaced all my memories of the old post in place of the edited ones. Look, I even edited the quote I made of you. So problem solved.
