It's not a trouble, but it's a question. Searched forum for such thread, noting found. So.
    Is all the game online?

    Hi, welcome to the forum!

The game currently is online only. Uber have confirmed that full offline play is coming soon when they can finish the 'server' (note for offline play, PA will simply run a server in the background on your own machine).

No more than other games- that is basically what 'single player' does for any game. What is unique about PA is that due to it being 'client-server' our machines don't run the simulation normally. That does mean when single player is released it's going to require more power (however as the client only uses 3 threads, and the server only requires 1 per player, for single player a modern quad core will be fine anyway).

PA is already moer resource grabby than other games, and that's with off-site servers.

The offsite servers are most likely a cause of the low performance, as the cloud servers are not as powerful (or rather are powerful, but run multiple server instances) as your desktop computer.
So running the server on your local machine most likely will increase performance, assuming you have a CPU that is not already capped with the client alone.

Which will be the Achilles heel of my gaming rig (which has held up admirably so far). My ancient Phenom II X3 is about spot on for good client performance (running at about 90% utilisation), however that doesn't really leave much left to run the server :p Probably time for an upgrade me thinks, though I've got to say that chip doesn't really owe me anything!

Not the the most coveted adjective in the PC world. If you're using that to describe anything inside or plugged into your computer, you really should replace it.

It's surprising how well it still holds up to modern games though, that's why I still have it :) A *really* good buy (got it just after Phenom II came out, couldn't quite afford the quad core so got that). I've updated the memory and graphics card since I built it but the old CPU keeps going, admittedly though I think it's about time for an upgrade once I can scrape the pennies together :p

Maybe. I don't know much about hardware but from what others here have told me you do kinda need a quad core, even if, like me, you only have a silly little A8-5500

    800 dollar loan.

Not the most coveted way to end up broke paycheck after paycheck for the next few months.

I'll stick to my cruddy cheap Emachine, thank you. I hate it, but I respect it for what it is, trash I got for practically free.

On that note, you try to play PA for less than 200 dollars. The game costs 30, so scratch that, you try to play PA for less than 230.
