EDIT: It seems I've been out of the fray for too long and have not witnessed the updated nuke effects. Apologies for that. I have to say the new effects are an amazing improvement! Well done guys! ^^ The new topic of this thread is: thoughts on the new explosions, and suggestions for improving them? ___________________________________________________ While the destructive power of a nuke is awe-inspiring in this game, the explosion and sound effect for it is pretty lackluster. That placeholder explosion is beginning to get pretty stale. With the recent development of improved flame and lighting effects, I would like to know if this is something your artists and sound engineers are going to be working on anytime soon? To my fellow players, nominate your favorite nuclear spectacles from other games. My nominations are the tactical nukes from World in Conflict, and of course the strategic missiles from Supreme Commander 1 and 2 (I enjoyed both).
On the topic of nuclear explosions, I would like to see a larger "death-nuke" than what is currently implemented, with a two second delay where a custom animation plays where the commander does a sort of "suppressed" explosion before it actually explodes.
I beg your pardon, I see there was even a news post made 11 August on the PA website about ratcheting up explosions. Sorry guys, work has been keeping me out of the loop lately. I will be sure to log in and check it out this evening, and then come back and comment on it.
I actually think the new commander explosion (with the large flash of light just before he goes up) is really good. An additional animation just before hand and a slight delay could make it even more epic, but that isn't to say the current effect isn't good
You know how fighters currently explode and look like a bundle of flaming rocks? I think if a few of those flaming trails of debris occasionally flew out of the center of the mushroom cloud it might be kinda neat.
