I believe that "burrowing" would make Planetary Annihilation way better, because the thought of either digging through an entire planet to destroy your opponent or collapsing the planet is amazing! Also, this burrowing would allow entire platoons to be hidden or secretly moved. Also it would allow for very interesting games that would involve lots of new and different tactics and strategy required, of course this is merely a suggestion and I don't expect a lot of feedback, but I believe it would add a lot to the game, and would be an amazing addition. -Graven
I think that Burrowing is already a confirmed no. I agree it could be interesting but it would be incredibly micro intensive.
this would allow turtles to win games easily. Turtling is already a cheese strat and this would make it even cheesier. Just because it's new and adds a lot doesn't mean it helps the success of the game.
wow it's rediculous how no matter how many times you debunk a myth it can still resuscitate thousands of times over. Just to clear up: I'm against burrowing. You will never have to fight against turtleing as a thing that you unfairly loose games to since you should never loose games to turtleing if it's really turtleing you're up against.
let me put it this way then, turtling prolongs games to unnecessary amounts of time. Adding burrowing would just make them able to win, while also prolonging time. At least, i think that's what you're getting at
Burrowing is a confirmed no. It has been suggested several times, please do a search before posting. It would be a micro intensive mechanic and would be too easy to just dig past all defenses and units and go straight for the Commander. I very much oppose this.
I'd like things like Bomb Bots to burrow like mines, to become invisible to most units. I like the idea of creating trenches for defense, and digging/raising the surface of Terrain for the advantages that should grant. But as Brian has said, full-on tunneling would be a Comm-Sniper's dream. It'd be really difficult to look at or use, and more effort than it's worth in my opinion to create.
also untrue and just about always the first or second part of that myth people who believe in it mention. It'd crazy how much of a deja-vu I'm in right now.
so your saying building walls, turrets, pelters, anchors, holkins, flak, and other stuff DOESN'T prolong the game? Last time i remembered turtles never win games, they just delay the inevitable. They never have any units to attack with to be a threat. It's so much easier to bulldoze a base without having these things. By 60 minutes they have the same walls and i have another 2000 units. Please explain, i would love to be informed of this myth.
You ever used a SSX Laser Platform? Coming from other planets, they appear right on top of you and 4 of them gives you an insta kill on a commander.
I'd like boom bots to burrow automatically when they stop moving. Other than that, nah, mod material maybe.
And that's a broken mechanic. Something that has been talked about quite a lot on the forums. The proposed fix is to give SXX sats a warm up time so they have to wait a few second before firing.
yes, you may prolong the game way more through other means, such as spamming tanks and countering with them all offensives in the right places. to my knowledge two equally matched non-turtle players will have a much longer match then one of those vs a turtle.
