Is there any possibility that reclaim could be changed a bit?

Tree's could still yield small amounts of metal or "mass" still, but really it should give energy.

Also, it'd be nice to have all of the rocks reclaimable as well. :p

I remember a map on TA, steel jungle or something similar, where your main metal revenue came from reclaiming statues and such. It was a battle of metal storage and the balance to use it efficiently.

Very fun game mechanic just by the map being set up differently. Added other strategies for build orders as well with a little wreckage thrown In.

PLUS... Why can't they just make wreckage get destroyed instantly by attacks. If they want to get rid of it, just make it a magnet for bullet fire :)

I guess it would be hard with all the damn dox running around to have 5000 unit wreckages getting trample by another 5000 endlessly incoming replacements.

Precisely. Grind down to rubble (pure texture, no impact on pathing) on first what-so-ever collision event, be it projectile or a moving unit.

That way impact on pathing is eliminated, cosmetic aspect retained, and wreckages can still serve as a resource.

    And then what?

Wrecks habe been removed in the latest patch, so you can't reclaim them anymore. Reclaiming trees isn't worth it - not to mention the fact that friggin trees shouldn't yield metal but energy.

So what are you going to reclaim? There literally isn't anything you could reclaim at all on most planets.

well you had the chance to do it
but who says unitwreckage has to be removed for ever?

They are most likely gone for quite a while. They have been removed because neutrino felt that they didn't match his play stile.

And wreckages being gone also means they are suddenly a low priority feature, means necessary enhancements to the wreckage system like grinding wreckages down on collision will be delayed at least for several months.

Erm.. No, they were removed because of the horrible problems with patching they created.

Edit: With this update units couldn't even tell they weren't supposed to walk on lava, how do you expect then to walk around wreckage well. :p

(Did they implement that 3D patching thing? Is that what broke unit pathing?)

Yes, It wasn't fun, because of pathing issues. :p You're taking that out of context.

Because of pathing issues (lack of simple grinding), neglectable yields (wrong numbers), most of the wreckages got completely destroyed in battle (lack of simple grinding), and wreckages acted way to much as damage shields.

Or in short: They removed an half baked feature because they lacked motivation to finish it.

Reclaim command hasn't received so much attention overall, especially not as a part of the eco system.

It's also that players neglect reclaim, reclaiming forests with combat fabs is a great way to get free metal, as combat fabs only use 1 enery a second i believe for reclaim, it's also very nice to reclaim an entire enemy base, something I love to do. Though you'll need to really spam storages.

Trees do yield an significant amount of metal? I always thought reclaiming trees was a waste of time - I mean how much metal could a TREE possibly contain?

EDIT: Nope, I don't actually see any metal worth defined in the JSON files....

Also, the game doesn't display yield numbers for reclaimables, does it? TA would tell you exactly how much metal/energy you'd get for a rock, a tree, a wreck etc. Or did I miss something?

10 metal... I think, but forests are so huge, and the metal comes at a steady amount rather than waiting until you're finishes reclaiming to get metal as it was in TA, this means of you get a group of combat fabs out in a dense forest you can get quite a bit of metal from it.

Really? That has to be a very recent change, I'd give it a try ingame but I'm getting ready to go.

Didn't say they are not actually yielding anything, just that I can't see any values defined. I'm going to test it right now...

EDIT: Test complete. Reclaiming trees yields NOTHING. Its only a waste of time and energy.

EDIT2: No wait, it does yield something... 10 metal seems about right. Would match the 10 health these trees have.

so playing with it wasnt fun.... why wasnt it fun? that could be cause of various reasons ... pathing, clumping up off units, no real economic gain from reclaiming, missing mechanichs or features for easy reclaim or them not working as well as hoped ... it may need an overhaul to be of any real significance than anoyance
i personaly see no issue for stuff being removed to make a improved comeback later ... thats rather a question of pathience

    Welcome to software development.

Id rather have a smaller game of complete fleshed out features then a over-bloated game with with half assed mechanics that don't even work right.
