Not sure if this has been discussed. But do we know if uber are going to eventually make it with their mod supports. That if you join a balance mod game through the server browser, that in the loading phase you get a notification of the mod being downloaded and installed for the specific mod your joining into i.e strata or realm rebalance? I think this would help getting more people into the modding scene if you could join modded games like for example if you join a modded server on cod 4. in the loading screen it tells you that its downloading the current server mod ect with out you having to go through the hassle of tracking down the mod and installing it manually and making sure you have it activated before trawling for another game thats running the mod you want to play? That way you can seamlessly switch between mods and games and possibly be able to get rid of the filter for modded and un-modded, making say vanilla games white text, Realm purple and strata brown. or even an icon next to the game names text with the initials of the balance mod thats being used on the map. I think it would remove the 'complexity' or effort required to get into balance adjusted games and open them up to a much wider casual audience rather than the hard core modders and people who really support the work being done for alternate balances.
A mod marketplace is confirmed so yes something like this is coming. However, a option to download mods used in a game would be nice!
We need to stop using "Confirmed", it isn't meaningful anymore. All we know is that Uber has plans and until they implement them we won't really know what they are. Mike
Server mods are shown in the lobby, and downloaded as-needed by all non-host players, no need to install anything. In the future Uber may add additional features save re-downloading server mods, at which point it might be useful to surface as an 'installed mod' that you could host.
