More than often I end up having to wait a little few minutes for the planets to fully load, although very often I never even get to pick my starting position and the game simply drops off the commander while the planet is still being loaded up.
Post your DxDiag (search for it on computer starter menu) and hopefully someone with computerskills will see the problem. Also check driver-updates.
Couldn't a simple option setting be added in order to disable the autostart/autopick thingy then? Would be cool. Thing is the game also autopicks my starting position after simply loading an existing savegame which can get rather annoying.
Yes, I find this to be inconvenient as well. Some polish suggestions for Uber: A visible countdown clock would be nice to show how long you have left to choose. There's a bit of stuttering at the start, IIRC, so the timer should not start until assets have completed loading and the simulation is stabilized. For single player matches or skirmish matches against all AI players, there shouldn't be a timer at all.
I really don't believe it should be limited to the single player portion of the game, I mean other players might not be able to properly load and render everything at the same speed as everyone else who's in the match. Edit: Oh right you did write something about that, sorry (slightly tired now). I'd be fine with a simple toggle tho
Does the lobby show a loading icon across from your name? That indicates that you client is still creating the planet. Design intended that you wait until your system has loaded before selecting ready. Does the loading icon appear and disappear correctly? Does it still take a long time for the planets to appear even after the loading icons has disappeared?
I actually have a huge problem getting into a game, generating planets takes under a minute most of the time, but getting into the game afterwards I almost always miss the commander drop mark. PA.exe crashes then goes back to normal, then crashes (It doesn't actually close) Eventually I make it in... then 50 - 60fps. o.o
Wow an alumni user with almost 3000 posts. Also Ratchet and Clank is my favorite 2nd favorite game ever! Nothing else gives me so much nostalgia. Anyway, i ALWAYS have this problem, more so on multiplanets systems. It's weird because my PC is uber fast. i5 3570k @ 4.5 Ghz GTX 770 dcu ii oc 8GB ram And, this game is running on my ssd because it's a speshul game Quite weird tbh EDIT: now that i think of it, if this game is running on your hdd you might want to consider defragmentation. Usually older hdds, or a hdd with little space left can get fragmented with little peices of a program. (just google that if you wonder why)
I'll just write down what happens instead. The game tells me that the planet was built in the lobby, when I am in-game the planets have yet to completely load or be built, the loading screen being pretty much useless seeing as the planets themselves are not even yet loaded. In the Galactic War the planets are never built either, seeing as big chunks of them still have to load. Anyway as I said before, I'd simply like to have that option added, I really do not have any performance issues and I do not exactly need any support on this. Either that or the developers should fix how the planets are loaded.
That describes what I'm seeing as well. By the time the default planet in single-player GW has finished loading textures and starts being rendered normally, there are already about 30 seconds on the game clock in the lower right hand corner.
