And so I was playing TA the other day, and I realised that the Commander's Uber Cannon in PA should by right be the analogy of the Disintegrator Gun in TA, which does infinite damage, and instant-gibs any unit.

Right now, it only does a paltry 700 damage, vastly inferior to the Vanguard's 2000 damage, which has ZERO cost but more than twice the damage. To let you guys see the difference between the 2:1 ratio, here is an illustration:

Now you all see it, that is the difference, but a commander's Uber cannon, at a cost of 10000 energy is simply inferior. The commander already has amazing attacks in naval and air combat, now it is time to make it the most powerful unit in all of PA, just like in TA, which precisely cites the commander as the "most powerful unit in the universe".

So now I propose: buff the UC to do infinite damage like in TA.

Why should it do that kind of insane damage?

Because the commander is a god among god. A bastion of power nearly 15m tall of gargantuan might. Might makes right, and it should have the right to make things right using pure might, and to do so it needs infinite prowess using the almight D-gun.

    Pew pew pew!

Yeah, this is cool, but at the same time causes a lot of issues with commander rushing (suicide for a draw, sometimes forced on you and unavoidable). I think this is something they wanted to eliminate from the game. At least make it easier to avoid. That along with the commander explosion not so easily taking out another commander, this rushing is no longer an easy way out.

Could still do with a buff though, maybe.

Suicide draw may not be an issue as they could always make the commander "immune" to uber cannon or commander death nuke etc

Yeah, I thought about that. But I think that conflicts pretty heavily with WYSIWYG.

It's just one unit after all, you know it's a Commander and you know from the get go it has special rules, this would simply be one more of them.

    No, they didn't.

But it's very possible; Uber just doesn't like the idea for some reason.

How would that differ to the game in it's current state? The strength of the Uber cannon is not what dictates if you commander rush.

Previously when commander rushing was a thing, it came down to two things. The maneuverability and metal cost (repair rate) of the commander.

You mean you don't see the problem with being able to one-shot the enemy commander, or that he blows up if you blow up within range of him regardless of his health? :p I'm not sure you're seeing this in a TA context. :)

Certainly is if you're the one trying for the draw because you're otherwise losing. Not so fun for the other guy. Usually not a problem with commander rushing except really early or on a tight map. Commander bombing would be more of an issue (airlift your commander, scout enemy commander, lag be on your side you might manage to nuke him as a suicide bomber). Most people wouldn't do this in TA because it was frowned upon.

In TA it was a hell of fun. Btw Nano, i was reffering to RCBM not to main build. Afaik the ubercannon is more spammable, but not the actual D-gun.

If a losing player is able to commbomb and force a draw, then they deserve it. How are you supposed to get your commander close to the enemy unless the enemy neglects a large part of the game?

I find games much more interesting when there is a chance of losing right up to the end. Games when the result is predetermined 10 minutes before the end are dull.

I think that WrongCat's post was in reference to

Actually, TA had some issues that wouldn't be a problem in PA. Small, tight maps, you could airlift your commander and go off-screen, invulnerable and invisible. Enemy commander might not have anywhere to go, and with a bit of lag and momentum, you could manage to get through regardless of how much AA he had.

This I wouldn't find fair in the least, nor interesting, just cheesy. But sure, if your commander was genuinely unprotected, that's entirely different.

Matter of opinion I guess. Some suicide bombing tactics are more cheesy than I could ever appreciate.

To some extent, it's legit enough to be able to sneak in a draw or even a win close to the end where you would otherwise lose. It depends on the situation. In chess, even if you're winning you have to keep an eye out for mating tactics against you to the very end. In PA, I don't expect it would be nearly as easy to pull off anyway, so it might be interesting to have this mechanic back. But comm boxing would be a thing of the past. :p It would be one UC and game over for both. But hey, heritage is heritage!

Now i think about it like that, i dont know how commboxing would play out like imsvale says and commboxing is a pretty cool part of PA.

I believe that the commander should actually have one more thing: an anti-orbital cannon and a weak radar.

At this point of time, the commander is still too easy destroyed. I am fine with games ending if the commander dies, but if that so, at least make the King a real king.

    Also, double its HP.
