I just wanna know has anyone came up with a good counter for people spamming doxes, besides spamming them yourself?

I still couldn't find a good solution, walls seems to help. Specially that command from hotbuild that automatically surrounds towers with walls, but unfortunately it's not very optimized, and you can't queue them.

Walls are a great way, if you have laser towers and pelters it's effective on the side being defended.

I tried going 2 bot to every 1 vehicle factory pumping out dox and infernos, but dox are just so cheap it's more efficient to spam them. Levelers are pretty good, but you can't have them moving because of their turret turn rate.

    those are not really counters.

I cant just turtle and expect to win.

I also cant magically get up levelers or pelters with no metal since the dox harassed all my metal.

There is no counter besides more dox. But even then it comes down to luck and simulated projectiles.

Rippers are more effective against dox than infernos, as with a bit of micro you can shred an incoming dox army with them thanks to range advantage at one hit kill :)

I was testing this yesterday. One thing I've established, dox are *much* more dangerous on small maps. The bigger the map, the more time you have to get sufficient tanks to shred an incoming dox blob :p The way I see it, small maps = dox, large maps a combination of air + tanks is probably better (especially with a few light laser defences dotted around to stop raiders getting too far).

Bigger Dox spam seems to perfectly counter Dox spam.

You can go T2 with almost nothing since the Comm eco boost. I never claimed any of it was a counter, particularly turtling (that's a guarantee to lose), I'm just stating things I've tried since I'd rather not have others testing the same thing over and over. AoE is easily the best counter for them, but of the units that have it, they are all too expensive, slow, not good enough or just don't move. The dox need to be a good bit pricier if they change only one thing, I think.

But then whats to stop the enemy from just going around your tanks to kill your expansions?

bubble shields :pSpamming Boom bots? Mines? walls? Something will merge or it will be eventually changed because there's no counter to it, etc.;)

Booms backed up by the occassional flame tank/general tank army/bombers seems like a realistic application counter.

Maybe try combatfabbers+rippers? build one botfactory building on or a few combat fabbers, have multiple vehicle-factories makin rippers/infernos, and then set the bot factory to also build grenadiers, they do good aoe damage. I will try it out later, i just thought it out.

Well the dox can go around you- but then can you risk leaving a large tank blob running through your base?

    That works both ways :)

Edit: The key is not to try and chase the dox with tanks

The easiest way to counter hard dox spam is to spam tanks and air hard, while using light laser towers to defend your flanks, and 3-4 vehicles to defend your engineers.

Someone spamming dox and trying to harass cannot defend against tons of tanks without risking their commander. You just huddle up a bit, bide your time for 30 or so seconds, building up tanks - then KERBLAAAM TANKS TO THE FACE.

    Works every. Single. Time.

Try starting with more metal near your commander than the other player. :p

It seems that the way to go is expanding slower, fortificating your expansions with laser turrets and building 3 to 4 tanks to protect expanding fabbers.
Seems good, I'll have to try it out!
My only concern is, since I'm expanding slower, won't my eco fall to far behind? Do you think combat fabbers can help?

What are the damage stats for mines? Does their area-of-effect counter dox well?

They have good aoe radius i believe, and do more damage than dox has health.

It won't matter, so long as you harass with dox in an effective manner as well.
