Why if I have a group of tanks sitting somewhere one enemy comes with in 100 yards they all march single file into them and get slaughtered? And all on their own. If I place a tank somewhere I want it to stay there. How can this annoying self governing unit issue be solved?
This happens with almost any unit in pretty much every RTS, just so you know. But you can fix it by messing with their firing orders/movement orders I think.
There's a movement command button in the right I believe, I think it has a drop down menu, one of the options is "hold position" IIRC
Yeah. every RTS does this but not to this extent. I can leave a group sit somewhere. come back and they will have creeped half way around the planet. At the very least the should return. If I mess with the options they seem to do nothing at all and die that way. I will mess with it more in the future. it is possible it is simply bugged.
I don't remember having this issue last time I played (a few weeks ago) though I haven't been able to play the latest build. Is it a recurring issue?
Yeah it is pretty constant. Typically the AA draws out quicker because tanks are slower. get murdered by tanks as they single file into them, then bombers get the tanks, which have lined up in nice long lines for carpet bombing. I think We need formations like we have in FA or more micro managed tanks like in other RTS. Both of which work. But tanks with minds of their own who do not listen to retreat commands are useless.
Why are your tanks sitting there and not advancing on the enemy? I agree with the above though. You will either get the standard in a line response or just hold position. You are the Commander Commander, your army will follow your every command or lack thereof.
Yeah it's relatively new behaviour and annoying behaviour at that. I wonder if you can set a default movement order on a factory and have it propagate to the units it builds.
Roam will have them go chasing the enemy the farthest. Maneuver dictates a shorter chase, and hold position no chase at all. At least going by how it worked in TA, because I really haven't used these in PA yet. Setting this on the factory will issue that same order to every unit that comes out of the factory.
Yeah this is new enough. Well for me anyhows. I know hummingbirds used a guard radius before. It seems like this is also the case now.
