    Inevitable.

Now have fun with streams being ended because of copyright claims...

A lot of people will probably jump ship to another service on the back of this. Mine shouldn't be affected since I mostly blast copious amounts of classical. My Harry Gregson-Williams might get pulled up, though, actually.

I wonder if it'll flag PA's soundtrack, despite this? They appear to use a blind service called Audible Magic which doesn't take into account the game being played when checking for soundtracks being flagged. Which is daft.

This is for highlights not live broadcasts.

I mean, it's silly to think that this will be the case forever.

I moderately dislike * the RIAA and their effect on music across the world.

    * moderate understatement.

Apparently these guys have just got themselves set up. They're UK-based, so the DMCA has no power over them, as far as I'm aware? I might give them a go when I have my computer back.

Well hitbox.tv is probably the biggest alternative right now.

When you want to escape US laws the UK is probably the worst place to go :)

Yeah, I've just read up on it. There's no escaping America's ridiculous laws.

The UK acts a lot like the US's puppy. Not as badly as when we were under Blair, but still.

Which is pretty ironic considering history.

    * just as badly/worse. People use the Iraq war as The Definitive Example, but whomever was PM at the time would've made us go for it.

I doubt that many will jump ship. They're just doing what Youtube does, and yes, that can be ridiculous in some cases, but it's still as popular as ever, both for viewers and the ones they watch.

Throwing a copyright claim on in-game music from a game that gave permission - silly. Throwing a copyright claim on someone with Pandora open in the background while streaming - legit. /my opinion

I'm surprised Twitch was able to operate without some sort of filter system before Google purchased it.

The music industry hates the internet.

Don't hate on Google for this, hate on the RIAA.

At least this filtering system only applies to the archived videos, and not the live broadcasts.

Not quite. With YT they usually just slap an advert on it. The current implementation of the Twitch filter mutes the whole audio of the stream in 30 minute blocks.

People should just play japanese indy music instead, I've never seen any of those blocked, even on YT.

Nah for us germans YT just blocks the video as a WHOLE usually.

Another cool thing is that you have to export past broadcasts over to Youtube or something if you don't want them to get deleted automatically.

Yep, time to move back to hitbox. They have some nice features that Twitch doesn't.
