Come on people, he came up with a new idea, which have been pretty rare these days. At least he didn’t suggest shields for the gate to make it survive the initial bomber onslaught.

It has flaws and clear hints of starcraft but its not totally unreasonable as far as ideas go. You could always create a T2 astreus that can carry the larger buildings, so adding a tech barrier to deployment. Or make it only able to transport the smaller buildings, like radar, missile turret and double barrelled turrets. That would hardly be OP compared to vanguard drop, but give extra options for invading a planet. – heavily fortified planets would still be no go areas but would give you some security to send your commander to a planet a couple of minutes after the enemy if you can give them a couple of turrets to protect him.

Simpler method would be to give the orbital fabber more build options. (perhaps one for the balance mods to test out?)

Thats an extreme on extreme...It assumes you have created a system with 2 equal sized planets that cant be smashed into each other and there no moons or other planets. Oh and you have to disallow multi planet spawns.

In that case any players with decent game knowledge should realise that getting to the other plant ASAP is a major strategic advantage.

Of course if you do see the enemy start to turtle then once you know other player is trying to build that many umbrellas and nuke defences you should be be nuke spamming that planet way before it gets to that point....

Here's a new idea: Commanders get the ability to shoot lunchboxes that transform into robots which crawl into enemy gun barrels and clog it with cheese sticks.

    New doesn't mean good.

How about a ship that lands and turns into a factory.

But i guess the main problem is that we needed something other then orbital, or static defenses to fight orbital.

i dont think we do ... if we add too many anti orbital options doing invasions will only get harder and harder ... the players need options for flexibility ... and imo that flexibility will be provided with unitcannons, multiunittransports and carriers as well as hovercraft and naval teleporters ... i think that pretty much sums it up what we need at minimum

Why not let the astreus pick up entire planets?

    Consider the idea in bold:

Maybe these "super space robots" can destroy all types of units, including orbital. Even though Uber has neither confirmed nor denied the presence of experimentals and super-strong units, this idea may make invasions easier.

@MrTBSC: Multi-unit transports? Sounds like a great idea, because as of the moment, the Pelican can only lift a single unit. Players need a multi-unit transport to efficiently invade the enemy's planet. Something like an orbital or an air unit...

orbital definitively ... air makes only sense for when planets are big enough .... and stable

That could work, balance wise. Once that's settled, there needs to be more ways to destroy orbital units other than Avengers, Anchors, and Umbrellas.

Or we can just make the unit cannon, in extreme stalemates you're not going to be able to invade by just dropping buildings on people, as they will immediately be destroyed just like a teleporter would.

    It's an interesting idea.

But the solution to all balance problems it is not.

I would normally say spaceships but just for this trollish thread I'll instead say we need robot spies that bribe the enemy planet into switching sides!! Why fight them when we can buy them off :D After all the true enemies of America already bought our country off!

Also we should be allowed to drop buildings on enemy bases to crush em lol :D Actually better Idea we should be able to shoot our buildings out of the unit cannon into enemy bases to crush em! :D :D :D :D
