Hey guys, just bought the game 2 days ago and want to ask for some advice before i start playing against other players. Rtswise the only game i tried was starcraft 2. It seems like there is no other way than being aggressive to win. My current plan in the early game is to produce 2-3 bomber as fast as possible and deny my opponents expansions while expanding myself. What other options do i have in this stage of the game and what comes next ? I just build tons of vehicle factorys and pump blindly the strong short range, the middle range, and the anti air vehicles out. I guess i need to scout what the enemy is doing. What are the most common army compositions currently and how do i recognize and counter them ? Edit : Can you suggest me a good(skilled) twitch streamer or youtuber where i can see games from his pov ?
A good way to see some high end play is to watch some tournaments. You can find video at http://exodusesports.com/
Head over to the Videos and Replays subforum, you'll find a ton. Also pamatches.com is a great resource run by brianpurkiss, complete with tutorials, casts etc. You've already figured out the most important part of the game's strategy, and that is to expand everywhere and keep your opponent from doing the same. As for army compositions, there are a ton of them, and no particular "right" one. PA differs from SC2 in that there aren't any hidden "hard counters" to units. This game follows the paradigm of What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG), meaning no researched tech levels, no damage bonuses against certain kinds of units etc. Counters in this game are generally range and health dependent. For example, a dox up against a tank will get obliterated, since the dox has low range and health (although very cheap). The most common army composition I have seen is a ratio of 5 tanks to 2 inferno to 1 spinner. If your opponent is going heavier air, you'll want to increase the AA component. More important though than army compositions is manage when you go to advanced, and right now advanced trumps basic in a big way. Scout your opponent and get to advanced before they do without compromising your life.
Though I have tested turtling with catapults and bluehawks, and it's not too bad of a counter if your opponent doesn't know what they're doing.
Don't worry the game is not even finished therefore stats are irrelevant and more than likely everything will change about another zillion times
but even vanguards + shellers aren't the only viable strategy by a long shot, just a bit OP atm. They can be countered by advanced air easily enough if you notice them before they hit your base.
Download PAMM . Install pastats. Go to pastats.com, go to ladder and 1v1 to see who the best players are and browse their matches. Click on the Match ID number to look at the stats, then to ultimately view the game. Read the forum post provided under the "view match" link to set up replay viewing. Watch replays of the best players duke it out in the current meta. Have a nice day.
When I was starting I really liked Zaphods videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCY75Oc9isHEPZZHTwWvrKEw PAmatches has some great videos and good tutorials on all the random stuff: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKRQUxjdMBUabzLltaQwuQA And these guides on exodous esports are very good too: http://exodusesports.com/guides/ Also I would avoid watching tournaments videos that are more then 2 months old, cause the balance changed a lot and some of the strategies used don't work anymore.
