I love the new R2D2 like sounds the Dox make But the game itself has become absolutely unplayable for me over the course of these optimizations. While performance has increased a lot, apparently the memory usage has increased as well, preventing me from actually loading the User Interface on my 4gb machine. The only way I was able to actually get the game into a playable state was to drop down everything at the lowest settings and start the game on a size 200 moon (on Linux..couldn't test Windows but generally it was better there...but still not really playable). I always got lots of disk activity while loading but now the game even locks up and taxes the disk when I do some "new action" such as pinging while selecting a spawnpoint (if I ping again, it works better). In this very small game (size 200 moon !!) I had lots of these lockups and eventually the UI crashed 3-4 minutes in and I completely gave up... In older builds (long ago... ) I was able to play with multiple decently sized planets at the highest settings decently (after some amount of disk activity at startup). Now I have great performance in theory (between all of the disk activity I have awesome fps) but I can't play the game anymore Seems like 4gb is way below min spec.
It seem to me that the AI really dislike multiplanet spawns, they only build bombers to patrol the planet, no orbital army, easy target...This is also a issue in the live build.
I am currently having this problem aswell, but didn't have it before. On some patches it is there, on some it isn't. I tried updating my graphics drivers or sometimes even downgrading them (worked a few times), but I cannot pinpoint the source of the problem.
So at least on radius 300 metal planets, units seem to path inside the large equatorial brushes... and then get stuck inside them. They can move around inside the brushes, but cannot exit them. I don't have any screenshots at the moment, but it should be pretty easy to reproduce.
I'm on the latest PTE, and i dont see any games up in the servers, even when setting everything to "Any" Strange
Metal planets still unplayable. Units get stuck EVERYWHERE, and i do mean everywhere, And units still refuse to help construction and building of stuff is you select more than like half a screen away.
Just tried to play a game, however I again experienced the bug where the selection rectangle got stuck. I thought a reconnect would fix it like it had before, but it didn't. I now get the X Window error already when the game starts to generate planets. And I get "Requesting replays failed" when trying to see my games.
I'm also having real problems with 4gb ram Under windows 7 if I close *everything down I possibly can* to free up memory I can get into a game on one or 2 small planets but that's about the lot. The memory footprint has increased significantly, I guess 8gb is really minimum now
Maybe its time to upgrade your PC cause 4 GB is really low spec. you can't expect new games to run smoothly on that. the minimum requirement of games are most of the time the bare minimum but not really playable.
I just had a complete UI crash on this PTE after playing a video directly from the game. (F5 didn't work) Here is the technical information if it helps: Code: Description Faulting Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Planetary Annihilation\PTE\bin_x64\host\CoherentUI_Host.exe Problem signature Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: CoherentUI_Host.exe Application Version: 1.8.5.0 Application Timestamp: 53d58988 Fault Module Name: CoherentUI_Host.exe Fault Module Version: 1.8.5.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 53d58988 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0011c2ea OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.4 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 0a9e Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3: 0a9e Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Afterwards, I played another match (2 planets and a moon). I am really enjoying the new sounds and effects. Also, performance seems to have improved; it took me less than 2 seconds to get into the game. Note: I didn't have FRAPS running (in the background) when the UI crash occurred. And when I did have FRAPS running, no UI crashes occurred.
