There just shouldnt be orbital units able to attack ground units, OR ground units having the ability to attack orbital. You have an imbalance the Moment orbital can attack ground, and ground units cant fight back. In that very moment it is decidet that the one who has orbital control automaticly wins all fights. And this is just disgusting.

Well what might be interesting is to test a few games with some 'gentleman's rules' that limit orbital. I would be up for that. I think the rules would be: No orbital factories, no avengers, SXX or Anchors. That would allow you to build transports, radar for scouting and orbital fabs for teleporters. That way the focus is back to the ground / air layers with orbital as logistics and intel.

Edit: Re your previous post, I don't think I can remember when one of the Promethean guys beat me with orbital stuff, we tend to prefer pushing with ground forces and using mixtures of units. Despite everyone declaring that T2 tanks are the only thing worth making, I rather like the combo of T1 tanks + snipers bots behind, it requires micro however not many other unit combos allow the fluid attack / retreat style combat like that. Those missile bots are not bad either mixed in with those.

I would be totally in for that - only with the difference to have like 5 avenger per planet in the system, so u can scout and destroy enemy orbital radars and transports, yet still not as many to just cover every of your planets with those thingies (when there are like 3 planets in the system, it would be allowed to have all 15 avenger on one planet, leaving no orbital defense for other planets)

I'm not sure you need the avengers. Remember if you want to shoot down orbital radars you have umbrellas. I think the only additional rule that is needed is no commander in the orbital transport (to avoid him hiding up there). You can colonise other planets using trans + fabbers and build gates so no need to transport commander that way anyway.
