So I have a few mod ideas/requests so I'm organizing them into a list. A quick note though. I know some of these mods may be hard to make and may be easier to implement after the full release and I also do not think all of these mods should or shouldn't be in the base game since some may change core gameplay that I believe should only be implemented in mods rather than the main game. Now that's out of the way, here are the ideas/requests: 1.Multiple Commanders/Teams In Planetary Annihilation at the moment the only way to play without being interrupted by the AI is to set their economy to 0.0. However this means you can have no battles. I personally would like to see a mod that allows me to effectively control two or more commanders/teams. These teams wouldn't be an AI so the wouldn't build or move anything I didn't tell them to build. Also these teams wouldn't have to be on the same side so I could control two armies fighting against each other. I don't know if this would be possible to mod in but it would be an interesting feature and it wouldn't surprise me if the devs already had a similar feature to test unit balance. (This is from this thread: forums.uberent.com/threads/multiple-commanders-mod-request.62529/ ) 2.Smaller Missile I would like to see a smaller missile than the nuke, maybe even with a smaller, cheaper launcher. I think it should use a more standard explosion effect rather than the nuke effect and should effect about the area of a 3x3 block of energy storage. This missile shouldn't be interplanetary. 3.Awesome Damaged Buildings Many, if not all buildings and vehicles have a damaged model like the way the unit cannon is shown damaged on worlds: forums.uberent.com/threads/unit-cannon-here-we-go-again.62558/#post-971381 What I think would be cool would be rather than simply destroying buildings, they get reduced to this state and are no longer operational but can be repaired. When they reach this state the AI/unit AI (your units auto shooting) will not target it, nor will any artillery but, you can still manually target it or planet smash to destroy them. A missile from the previous request would do the same as other units but, a nuke will destroy the building it lands on. A planet smash should fully destroy buildings in the crater but any affected around the crater should be reduced to this state. 4.Population The idea of this is to add people to the game as a third resource. To add people you would need to build basic or advanced housing which could add 25 people for basic (5 floor apartments) and 200 people for advanced (20 floor tower block). People wouldn't use storage on the resource bar but would have: flickr.com/photos/77466399@N07/14629940840/in/photostream/ They would be used as a resource to run mines and energy plants and without them they wouldn't work. Without enough people your economy wouldn't function properly. I'm not sure on how many people should be required for these. This would force people to build settlements and enable players another way to attack you and cripple your economy. I would also like this to able able to work with the awesome damaged buildings. There's just a few, I may add more at a later date. Sorry for not using links, apparently I can't yet. Also Thanks if you read all of that.
Since I'm not a distinguished, elderly scientist, I cannot say, with a great deal of certainty or uncertainty whether any in particular one of these ideas or requests for mods, is possible or impossible. However, I can speculate on the possibility of some of the ideas or requests for mods being possible or impossible to a certain degree of accuracy of which I am unsure of.
I believe there is already a server mod that allows the multiple commanders idea. It is one of the base cheats that Uber provided for switching army control.
Yes, however the AI will still act and control everything under it's command when i control the other team.
We don't yet have access to the true sandbox because we do not have access to the server. When we get server/offline play, we'll have access to Uber's true sandbox where we can control both sides and the enemy AI won't do anything without asking. As for #2, both the Statera and Realm Community Balance Mods already have different nuke sizes. 3 is a nifty idea. I'd be curious to try it out. I don't like the idea of 4. It's just another resource and I'd rather be focused on combat. I also don't like anything that limits the number of fieldable units/buildings. Also, I don't think it would balance well. All I need to do is snipe your housing buildings and your entire base shuts down since nothing runs without them. It also doesn't fit in with the PA lore, since in PA lore humans are extinct.
#2 There is also Missile mod which adds many types of missiles to the game, so there is 3 mods that have new types of Missiles.
I'll work out the best missile mod then remove that one. It doesn't obey the lore and some people may not like it but I think it could be very interesting.
First I'm not asking for Simcity, just a mod that adds population. Second if people are asking for Simcity then it's probably because the latest Simcity was terrible compared to the previous ones.
Hell if I can mod in sim city, then YOU CAN'T EVEN STOP ME GEERS! Essentially population would be a resource, that shouldn't be too hard, although the game is currently only set up for metal and power.
3 sounds a lot like the wreckages we currently have in the game, but with an extra system like the one in SupCom where if you placed a structure over a wreckage it would start half built. Personally I think "meh", I'm hoping for more exciting things to be added.
