I've heard all over the forums, in game, from my friends and my personal opinion too. Planetary annihilation is great fun in team games, I've also seen it said "If managing an army is too hard to do by yourself, get a friend to help you". Even though the post was recent, its slowly becoming less and less true.

Many of my favorite games of PA come from before I returned, (although, I will admit, with the exception of the latest patch which doesn't like my computer, it runs at least 10x faster). This is because at the time of what I call the Artilery Meta, it was optimal to start near your friends and divide focus along different directions (for us, it was tech and early game).

However this is no longer the case.

With the move away from artilery war (for better or worse), and the arrival of the ability to land on many different planets, the game, even in shared army mode, is getting more distant from my team, its important to control every aspect of everything your commander builds.

While we have had far more success than failure in our conquests, it is more exhausting, and probably less entertaining than before. For many games, extemely optimal play is not needed, many units are idle, excess metal wasted (always the case, but i mean A LOT)

So simply put, for players who want to play the game as a group, and to help players who are newer to the game, or just for players who like the simpler origins, or even for players who do not like to see someone be a battery for a friend to rush vanguards. I'm asking for a One-Commander mode, as an optional mode enabled in the same way as shared armies, (and obviously only usable when shared armies is available)

I'd like to hear everyone else's thoughts on the matter

I would definitely like it. Less practical when you're playing with strangers and don't want to be messing with eachothers stuff, but when you actually want to 'share an army' with a friend, this would actually do that rather than simply playing individually while happening to have a shared economy.

On the other hand, it leaves very little for two experienced players to do in the early game, a single base does not really gain that much from an extra set of hands/eyes until the eco and units get rolling. Perhaps, rather than a single commander spawn, it could simply be a forced proximity, where all team commanders spawn near each other.

Can be agreed upon with friends, to do a multiple player game, and intentionally delete all but one commander.

However, I love the idea, I wish the game had a lobby where you can choose how many people per commander, how many commanders per army, how many armies per team, and how many teams per game...

I am aware of the lack of an interesting 30 seconds or so, i have thought of that solution, i simply put up this one because i liked it more, having a lot of coms in a small proximity really dramatisize the need for space, and will push an insane rush to reach tier2. You could argue "thats just the game", in the end, i just posted the idea i liked better.

Also, since the early commander energy/metal change (probably overboard), the start is two factories. so its not too long to wait
