Seriously i'm trying to enjoy the game, and i want to enjoy the game because it's awesome, but at this moment i'm so very disapointed and not going to play the game for a long long time untill this sh*t works properly. Friendslist, broken, does not work one bit, can't see if my friends are online, they don't see me online. Hosting games for friends only does not work, they can't find your games, and can not join. Deleting a friend and trying to befriend them again, does not work, they do not get a notification, they can not accept and friends are gone forever Hosting a game public, this works ONCE! when you quit a game, because the performance against the AI (to discribe it mildly) is poor and try to rehost a game with lesser AI enemies and a smaller planet, no way in hell your friends are finding you in the public list, ooh wait they found me after 5 minutes but can not connect to it, or when i change something from FFA to Team Armies i disapear from the list, but hell they couldn't connect in the first place, so what gives hah....... The disclaimer, can't this nice piece of work just disapear, do i really need to accept this thing every damn time i start up the game with it's annoying buzzing sound on the background! Kinda annoying after a while you know. The loading screen, is this temporary or is this the final thing? It is compleetly out of whack and does not fit the theme, the look and feel is from the 60s and does not belong in a game that is far into the future (just my thought) Performance again AI, this is just the worst of all that is in the game atm, i'm not a competitive online player, i love to play against the AI with friends and get my enjoyment out of this part of the game, but that is just compleetly impossible, after a few minutes the game starts to stutter more and more untill the game is standing still more then it is moving my units! and becomes a compleet frustration! The AI itself, Sorian you are the god of AI but can you explain why the AI knows EXACTLY where all your units are standing, knows precisely where to send there units where my base is it's weakest WITHOUT having any form of recon about my base, no radar, no satellites what so ever. Same goes with artilery, no vision of any form and still they shoot into my base, the worst part is (seen it several times now) when i build a nuke, they place a hulkins precisely in range of my nuke , and of ALL the building it could pick, it shoots right at the nuke launcher. Why has the AI an all seeing eye? I thought you programmed the AI so it did not have this? Bugs, nothing to be disapointed about, it's still in beta and has to be expected. Units getting stuck in grond clutter. Units fall throught the floor but don't really want to, and start to flicker like a broken TL light and hop up and down. Other players do not see environmental chances like, burned forest or nuke scorchmarks. Of all the units that can set a forest on fire, the flame thrower can not i just started lauching hilariously about this one! Pathfinding is still work in progress i know, but can improve ALLOT, units still want to ride through water, rocks, buildings you name it, they do not see any obstacles in advance unless they facepalm right into it, and wierdly slide past them. The Commander, The prime of technology, the master mind, the thing you have to protect, but after 4 minutes has became utter obsolete, useless, a piece of metal that only stands in the way and has no further use. Is there a plan to change this? because it feels abit stupid imho that you have this thing but can do anything with it. Sorry it's became abit TL;TR
Patience man, they just put a bunch of features in, its still buggy yes but im sure they are working on solving most things.
I've not been playing much lately (kids are on Summer holidays so I've been busy), but I've still played some games against the AI and I've not seen this at all - are you 100% sure the AI hasn't been scouting you? Just asking because when I play I see Fireflies buzzing around constantly, along with unit probes etc.
Enable the 'in lobby' filter to get rid of all the in progress games. There's a mod on pamm "Acceptance" that removes the disclaimer. What loading screen? The AI doesn't know where you are.
It doesn't. It's just extremely good at finding the weakest spot in your defenses with the information it has from scouting. Crucial difference.
I'm sorry to say it, but he's right. I thought the same thing as I read your post. You sound angry at bugs in a game that is not complete, which is the point of the disclaimer. Also, I'll get on in 20 minutes and actually try to help, so don't think I'm just being a jerk.
Yeah i am annoyed with bugs in the game, and that is mostly because nothing works properly, the only thing that works properly is showing the disclaimer every time, the rest is malfunctioning to no end. Sorry but this game, as they say it themselves is close to 1.0 but there actually far far from it.
Ok, good to know you think it's awesome, but don't go on to call it sh*t, that's just rude. I think that you're right on this one, the Uberbar thing is known to be buggy as can be, but Uber has more important things to work on, and as far as bugs go, this isn't game-breaking in anyway. I have never had that problem with hosting a game, in a full year of playing PA. As stated above, if you set the filter to "In Lobby," it reduces the list down to <10 games, which makes it so much easier to find games. As for the not connecting, try twice, or three times, sometimes the servers don't make a good connection, and if they get "connected" but don't see the game lobby, they need to simply wait it out, it can take a few minutes to fully connect if the server is busy. Patience is a virtue in connecting (though not always). Finally, when you change gamemode, the list has to update, which doesn't happen instantaneously, so they likely have to wait a moment, though I've never experienced that issue either. Annoying as heck? Oh yes, but it serves a purpose that keeps Uber's liability low, which I'm fine with. Also, check out the "acceptance" mod on PAMM (As ZaphodX suggested above). Meh, It will likely be polished, as it does seem a bit odd, but if Uber likes it, we're stuck with it. Please check out this thread about performance, in addition to that list, run dxdiag.exe and upload the dxdiag.txt file. Also, make sure ALL drivers are up to date, and put your settings at the appropriate levels for your computer (e.g. Uber if you have a super-gaming PC, low if you're on a decent laptop), don't try to force higher settings than you can handle, it will destroy your FPS very quickly. Driver issues? The environmental things, such as fire/craters/etc are server-side, then rendered clientside. You are simply not describing the location well enough. There may be some occasions in which you are correct, but, once again, I've never heard of it. Pathfinding is sometimes funny, but it's so much better than it was a few months ago, holy cow Uber. Only 4 minutes? I'm still using it until I hit T2, it's the most efficient fabber (though T2 may be more efficient) for early game, use it constantly to build factories and power. It's a great defensive unit too, use the Ubercannon as much as you need! (Do not take everything said as fact, but as to the best of my knowledge, I'm pretty darn close on the information said. )
The use of the commander even early game is debatable. I just use it for building energy for the rest of a match. I would not recommend using it as defense against a vanguard rush Paulusss is correct though, it is pretty useless late game, but i think that adds an extra layer of strategy, i try to hide my commander in my city
Thank for your reaction, it's a nice one, altho my post is abit writen with anger, frustration and disapointment, other people should understand what reaction this implies, after enough of fuzzing around trying to make things work. I'm a kickstarter backer, i know the game is in development and i know bugs will be around, no doubt about it, i'm not implying, hoping, expecting everything will work fine. But with the release of (Gamma) being shouted from a high tower has been told that you can now play with friends, friends list, friends games in lobby ect ect ect. Fine if it brakes down once or twice during a patch, but fix it then once stated when reported broken. But this is not the case, this feature is broken almost right after the second Gamma patch and have not been working ever since. But fine they don't want to focus on that, it's not game breaking, nothing is really game breaking atm. So friends games don't work, and leaving a game with bad performance and rehost another game doesn't work either, so after that mutch my group had accepted a decent level of frustration from the game, and we said to each other well if this sh*t also doesn't work, then the hell with this and just gives a very bad taste. Some of my friends even told me they regret buying this game, but they will come back eventually once it does work. But the bottom line is that some features that do not work, should work by now, and i wonder how long it will take for them to make it work.
Beyond venting, was there anything else you wanted to do with this thread? Because there really isn't much more to say than the disclaimer already has, plus reminding you of the concept of priorities in development.
