    Hi,

I run Windows 8, ATI Radeon 7850, nothing erally special.

Since the last update, almost every game freezes. I see a white windows balloon popping up saying something like "Windows recovered from a display driver crash blablabla", and as you can imagine, PA totally crashes.

I already retried installing PA completely, reinstalling the latest drivers but it doesn't seem to help. My friend does not have these issues (W7/ Gefore780SLI).

Anyone a clue what is going on?

Hmm, well your graphics driver does look up to date. One thing you might want to check- are your Intel HD drivers up to date (for the integrated GPU on the i5)? I had problems with an i5 laptop and it was the Intel drivers upsetting thigns.

Also, do you have any mods installed? These can cause problems. The game should run fine...

Last week i even suffered two BOSD's, and now my gpu driver (ATI) keeps complaining pfff... Perhaps my GPU is dying.

Forget about it, i bought myself a GTX780 a few minutes ago, that will probably solve the problem aswell :)

Lol nice! Yeah if you're getting BSOD it's possible the GPU is on it's way out. I'm assuming you've had it a while?

Actually it happend last week for the first time. A few days ago i noticed massive lag in other games and now when i play PA i get a Windows balloon saying 'Windows prevented the system from crashing, check display driver bladiebla".

It happened to me too. Old NVidia 8800, same symptoms, and then it died completely. So, plan ahead.

Yeah graphics cards do wear out. Longest lived card I've ever had was a Geforce 2 ti made by Gainward. That thing was used for about 8 years before it finally totally dies :p I also have a rather old HD 4670 that is still alive and kicking in my parents computer (and it does get used for gaming, well kinda- my mum loves plants vs zomies lol)
