Poll: Make air Teleportable in Statera? (Here for visability as the poll is useless without votes)

Le poll is le point.

Naval is already teleportable in Statera.

Reasoning for your votes would be appreciated as although numbers are great the reasons behind the numbers are better.

I voted yes, mostly because once you take over a planet air feels very... disconnected from the fight.
It doesn't feel very useful in the orbital game, being able to teleport air would remedy that.

I think it would be cool to try, but it should take either a lot more energy or not be buildable from orbit like the land one.

I'm wondering if Naval and Air should have their own teleporters, though. Naval, for instance, should have to be in water and only connect with another teleporter in water, and I suspect that'll be easier if they're a separate structure. Also naval units are the largest ones we build, so maybe their teleporter should be larger to accommodate them.

Don't they keep locking or moving your threads every time you try to put something in a forum it doesn't belong in "for visibility"?

Why not make vanguards able to carry air. Then they could go through while carrying the air units.

Well technically Raevn moved /my/ modelling thread, but it made seeense, I only thought it'd be okay because Knight had his there for so long!

I'm hesitant to make it not buildable from orbit as then it becomes easier to turtle interplanetary.

Currently it uses 10,000 energy, or 4,500 metal in T1 energy plants.

I'm not sure if we have hooks for two separate types of teleporters.

I tried making vanguards able to transport units, but it was broken and if I recalled I removed that functionality in 0.5.5. Guessing that land transports can't work.

EDIT: Turns out that I didn't remove that functionality in 0.5.5. If someone could go test it and see if it's still broken, I'd appreciate it!

That's an option. Not WYSIWYG, but it is an option.

Completely true.

My logic is: I think teleporting all Air would be very very powerful and incredibly hard to counter. But just fighters'd be great to get in there and attempt to protect the teleporter from those nasty bomber clouds while the actual army comes through.

I think we should have an advanced fighter that can fly between orbits to aid with invasions.

Orbital units flying into the air layer is possible with current hooks, but the control users have over it is not satisfactory. Air units flying into the orbital layer is impossible AFAIK.

Moving to mod discussion.

Not appreciating the fact that I haven't gotten feedback from any of the no votes.

I think I'll do some testing, see if it's OP to make all of them use it. Don't think it will be, but doesn't hurt to investigate. If it is, then I'll just allow fighters through.

but in the case of statera where air swarm isn't inheirently the best planet coverage swarm, speed nerf and real anti air options, its on par with land and other swarms, teleport makes sense.

basically, a focused air can dig into a land army with the right formation, but swarm air could lose equal numbers against cheaper units if dense enough anti air is used, possibly blends of dedicated AA and hybrid AA.

but the best part is naval being teleport, water only planets have naval flavor of every land variety in scale combat. Air really lets the gunships shine since heavy air focus makes gunships the sustainable field unit. The rest of air is strike role and expendable, I am also glad about that, bomber area patrol seems wrong to hold ground compared to a heli based unit.

So .. if the teleporters all use the same hooks, what's to stop your naval fleet going through a teleporter and arriving in the middle of a landmass, or even on a planet with not water whatsoever? Having a bunch of Leviathans and Stingrays teleport into the middle of a vehicle battle would feel more than a little broken!
