After playing a couple more 1 v 1s against people who are half decent I have realised that I am essentially cannon fodder for this tournament

Are you planning to use System Sharing for this? The update killed my mod and I'm trying to figure out what kind of deadline I have for fixing this.

So what is the map pool like and how has the new build effected the tourney? Will it be just like choose your spawn wherever?

For now we will be trying to just randomize for a moon planet since Pa still has the mod issues.

The map pool is basically hit random until you get a moon planet.

The new build only added extra metal and power generated by your comm (from what the patch notes said alot of it was makeup for the game (which I really liked)) . So starting with 1 metal and 1 energy can be viable ( though I would like for you guys to surprise me with wacky fun).

I will say this here and in the TS before we begin we can not be doing choose your own spawn because people will go straight for the best metal spot and that can basically cause "whos the best boxer" issues. Hopefully Pa will to a hot fix before anything happens.

When playing I noticed that you only have 1 metal extractor to stat, maybe Pa is just quietly trying to show us the new meta...YAY subtle enforcement!

Air is useless, use vanguards because win, build no facs other than vehicles, fac first or die, T2 rush because eco allows.

No, I'm just advising those who are unfamiliar with the new meta.

Bots and air are so situational now that if you don't know what you're doing with them then there's no reason at all to use them. If you don't know what you're doing then vehicles is the only sensible option.

Oh ok. It's possible I overreacted. I know a lot of good players go heavy with air but I see now that they are wrong. If I didn't know better I would think you were just balance trolling in a tournament thread.

Lots of good players went with air last patch. You know, before they gave the commander an "insta-kill anything near this if it's air" gun to the commander.

I'm all about good gameplay that people enjoy. Players enjoying playing, casters enjoying commentating on, and viewers enjoying watching. Making would be curb-stomps due to ignorance less curb-stompish fulfills this.

Let's just keep the balance discussions in the balance forum and not in ghost's tourney thread.
