In the PTE this screen pops up whenever you start a game from the lobby. both the panels with the players slide into the middle showing everyone's name, color, and commander. However, after that the screen just switches to the game, with a bit of a harsh transition. I think it would look a little better (and be a fairly minor change) if the panels slid back up and the screen faded from black to the game. Thanks to raevn for the pic
A good place to show the badges, too (ref https://forums.uberent.com/threads/suggestion-badges-shown-in-pre-game-lobby.62152/)
Good point! Though I still think they should be a decal on your commander. Also, having the commander in the lobby be the same colors as your team would be nice.
I think it would be nice if instead of a coloured background with a blue and orange/yellow commander in front of it, the commanders appeared without the background but with correct team colours. Not sure if it's feasible, but if it is, it'd be nice.
The background rectangles look kinda funky to me. If they do plan on keeping those, they should fix them overlapping other commanders at least.
That'd be feasible, I think. Maybe if it showed an in-game model on a sort of PiP window instead of the stock blue and orange render.
It does look a little weird in 10 player games, honestly. I can only imagine the awkwardness of it in a 40 player game.
AW **** that. here's my opinion on this screen : https://forums.uberent.com/threads/new-lobby-creator-and-end-game-stats.62040/#post-962483 ....it should be removed. read ahead. I don't put an SSD with ubuntu on my computer and get no bootup animation whatsoever to get loads screens in my last-gen game, screw that.
Personally I think it's cool. It adds some polish to the game, even though i think the effect needs a bit of polishing.
like I said. it needs to make a use of the time it's using instead of wasting it or go away altogether. I suggested putting it on the 5 second delay in lobby. leaving the ready/launch button so the capacity to cancel launch s still there.
I feel like it should stick around a bit longer, personally. It disappears and then I have to wait another 10 seconds while my poor ageing GPU renders the planet. I'd much rather it render the planet in the background with this 'cover screen' on. Another possible implementation for the future: Have a button to leave this screen and get into the game, but before you press it you can mouse over each player and see things like badges and stats.
Well maybe I'll bring it back, seeing that there is a reduced banner available for RCBM now. EDIT: There. My new old sig.
I'd like to see where this screen is going. Currently I think it's still isn't done and not polished, I like the concept though.
