Played a game, looked at the replay afterwards: http://pastats.com/chart?gameId=182287 http://pastats.com/replay/5128276544226431271 my opp goes mex, mex, bot, air, veh -- NO ENERGY i've fired up the replay twice, and each time, he shows 50/20 metal at the beginning, which climbs to a ludicrous 200 metal after the first two minutes -- he's barely colonized outside his base at all he goes for t2 immediately after his three factories... So, did he cheat? Or is this just a bug? (Yes, we're both really bad. I scouted him and thought it was gonna be easy but he somehow had a ton of stuff. Investigating the replay afterwards showed there weren't any hidden bases, etc.) What's the deal? It doesn't make any sense...
He set his resource scaling to 5 before the game started... what a *****. I've NEVER seen that happen in multiplayer. Good on you for winning despite his cheapness.
It's not your fault. It's an easy thing to miss. It's usually used against the AI for fun experimentation, usually players are gentlemanly enough to keep it that way. Next time keep an eye on these numbers. If they're higher than 1, the host's trying to give himself an advantage.
BTW FYI bearcat you do very well for someone who's only played for a week or two. I know you impressed @brianpurkiss in a vid he made a couple of days ago.
Yeah. It was a great match. I always love it when randoms/unknowns come in and do well. Here's the video if OP wants to see. And major props to OP for beating that cheating player who gave himself an advantage. That's very impressive. I may commentate that match...
By popular demand, I'll look at commentating the match. It sounds like it'll be a good match, but we'll see. If it's worth commentating, I'll commentate it after my roommate goes to bed and post it tomorrow morning.
Would also be a good chance to double check to see if an economy multiplier was set, it should be easy to see based on the Commander income right at the start of the match I'd assume? Mike
naw, it wasn't that good! I thought i had an easy win after the scout and didn't realize what i was up against... he nuked me twice and it was really confusing -- "where did that come from?" Since i didn't know what was going on, i wasn't really doing smart things (building anti-nukes, expanding elsewhere, going orbital) because i figured i had it in the bag. If he'd done any expanding or pushed at all i would've been hosed. He probably just counted on having his 5x and wasn't trying.
Well, I took a look at the match and I'm not going to commentate it. It's pretty impressive that bearcat beat the cheat, but it's a long slow grind of wearing down a turtle. bearcat also should have gone for the air snipe or an orbital snipe. The match woulda been over a lot quicker.
