I should start researching their monetary status. In detail.
    With a well paid PI.

I'll call in my Congressional contacts ;)

If that's the case then a mod UI needs to be added to the game before it's released. PAMM's great and it's fine for people like us, but your average gamer isn't likely to go hunting around forums looking to see what mods are around. They need to be clearly displayed within the game; you need to be able to find, install, configure and disable them easily without ever leaving PA.

Even with that, I wonder what percentage of players would just quit rather than playing around with mods?

Mmh... let's say that they have 30 programmers/designers working constantly on PA, paid 2.000 USD per head per month.

3.000.000 USD (initial budget) should be enough for ~ 4 years of development. Let's say taxes and infrastructures take away one year, but they still had 22 months of sales at one of the highest price for an Early Access (software) product. Software means you have no production cost per unit.

So, or money isn't the real issue, or I am doing wrong.

I sincerely hope it is not. If the features of 1.0 are subject to change this means that Kickstarter promises are subject to change. Of which I am doubtful. I reckon they just do not want to say that not all the stretch goals will be in at 1.0. But this would be fine and in line with Kickstarter terms. The ways of Uber's PR are strange. Wait and tea.

Has someone reliable stats on the number of weeks PA has spent on Steam's frontpage, by the way? To me it seems like an obscene amount for an early-access game. And without any notion of it being one on the frontpage, on top of that.

I think you are underestimating the salaries. I would think the average would be double your average.

Vanguards problem is more their speed. They are too good at killing everything and can chase down a commander easily. A group of shellers could kite them all day however.

You're right. A quick Google search told it's actually three times that amount.

Yet another problem is that other units don't react properly to the threat Vanguards propose. You only need to send them on a straight line into your enemies base and they will wipe every single un-microd unit in their way. Even the units which would be able to kite when handled manually, but that's futile given the numbers of units possibly in play.

Atleast make sure the servers can handle new players coming in. During steam summer sales it was almost unplayable. If this happens during the launch you'll definitly lose a lot of potential players.

It's called "having a life". Summer is busy. It's the same reason Hollywood releases shows in Sept-Oct as opposed to June. Not everyone wants to sit inside waiting for game builds to drop while sun and fun await outside. Player numbers will go up when we're not so busy doing summer things.

why do you think there was a summer sale on steam then. There are more players online in the summer than any other season. Just because people play games during the summer doesn't mean the have no life. I play soccer (football) almost every day for 4 hours. I have plenty of time for video games.

I'd deff say a reason is needed for bots; besides the ridiculous bomb bot spam...

At least with assist enabled combat fabbers people built bot factories in competitive play.

Make some that are useful: i.e. AA bot instead of vehicle, bot radar jammer, bot long range artillery.

Hell i don't even remember what an adv fab bot looks like...

If the vehicles are superior on the battle field, give the bots utility, more build power, something... They are similar to equipping a paper airplane with a pellet gun atm. Give that paper airplane some chemical weaponry!
