    LOL.

Uber uses amazon's servers for game hosting though, so it's not their fault if they act up occasionally.

what they have isn't that powerful. It does the job but I agree that Uber should step up whatever plan they have with amazon because this game is a real monster in terms of performance demands (even server side).

Though, that is only one of the countless many other servers they have... Here's a picture of another server:

It is Uber's responsibility to pick a half decent server provider.

My deepest respect to Uber for running PA on that kind of servers. They probably get could spend their awesome knowledge of break through fast algorithms to get super rich in other fields, but instead they make a game for us. Thanks!

And apart from two occasions in several years, they were completely fine. So a more than 99.9% uptime is not good enough for you?

I think you need to define "fine" in these circumstances. I constantly receive connection to server lost messages, server side game crashes and a drop in FPS due to the server not sending unit positions fast enough. Each time there is a sale the servers flip out with an extremely high % of games dropping out before finished or just "failed to join game / failed to retrieve game list / connection to server lost messages".
My internet is more than fine with 20Mbit/sec download and aroune 3Mbit/sec upload. I have asked around both on these forums and in the game and many people report the same problem.

And this would all be fine to complain if the game wasn't WIP.

You see, I don't think the issues come from the server's themselves, but the software. Which is still in development. It's subject to bugs as much as the client as changes are made. I agree, it seems amazon needs to be able to cope fast enough with the suddenly increased load around sales, and if they can do it with a mammoth like netflix, than I'm sure Uber can do something for smoother performance in that case.

The rest I think simply comes from the in development nature of the game. Please hold the pitchforks until 1.0, as I usually say.

It is half decent given it's a temp for testing prerelease.

First off, they want to test it on lowest possible rig. You have a good rig but they want to test serverside on bad rig, live with the fact it makes your rig perform at bad rig speed, it is pretty much common knowledge at this point.

Second off, it is temporary. Once the game is released, the server is released. Uber may keep a handful of servers to load on for players, but mainly it will be local play and player hosted multiplayer and possibly private ran player server listings.

Thirdly, the servers are decent but run 8 games a machine iirc. Iirc, when players forced 40 and 80 player games, they turned to slideshows, but they would crash the actual server they ran on after some time, so Uber decided to cap it server side so players would stop stressing all 8 games on the one server machine it runs on.

So really, it isn't bad, and definitely tolerable, for the duration, isn't it? Also, it pretty much ensures if it can run on capped hardware, that it can run much much faster on massively better hardware. When server is released, its much more likely for server and clients to run 30-60 fps because the machine is better than the current test servers.

borrow? If you bought the game, I am under the belief Uber wants to give a copy of the server to every single buyer to have with their purchase of PA upon official exit of early access, eta end of 2014.

that means even I get a server, albeit I won't make bulk public ones or anything, but I get to play local when it does. You, the Realm's official limited liability collective, pamatches and whoever, can host in bulk if desired, and any individual can host multiplayer for themselves.

this games servers reflect the situation, capped at low performance with no intention to support the entire release crowd. The simple reason is the community can host their own games, the servers aren't a part of the games purchase, they are a development stage cost and tool, not a cost to support the game because there is no expectation to really need servers for fully functional PA.

Have you ever hosted a dedicated server for a game? That's basically what you'll get I believe. :p
